341  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Rorschach sorta-sock-monkey-ish plushie on: December 28, 2009 12:44:45 PM
Hi all, my first time posting a completed project on Craftster (due to some forum shyness!) so here goes!

I've been making my boyfriend sock monkeys for a few months now, as part of the "Aido's Monkey Army" so for Christmas I decided to go one better and make him something extra special - his favourite super/anti-hero, Rorschach from Watchmen. We both agree that Rorschach is the most bad ass superhero of the lot. It's true! He never loses sight of what's right and wrong, he doesn't want ANYONE to see his real face, he's a bit crazy and he can fight as well as any superhero. He's the quintessential anti-hero.
In fact, my boyfriend loves Rorschach so much that he actually bought a Rorschach costume for his character in Little Big Planet and hasn't changed it since Smiley

So, pretty much based on the sock monkey design, I managed to make him. The only real things to cause me problems were trying to do some guerilla sewing whilst commanding Aido not to look around at what I'm doing (we live together you see!) and the hat (which frustrated me enough to come onto Craftster and ask for help  but nobody apparently could help so I scoured the internet instead and finally found a design).
He's not the best made plushie out there, but my boyfriend loves him!

342  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Hello from Dublin, Ireland! on: December 26, 2009 02:26:08 PM
Hey all, just wanted to say hi to everyone in hopes of overcoming forum shyness!

I love to craft with nearly anything I can get my hands on and I'm also a photographer and aspiring digital artist as well.
I'm also a huge fan of Craftser but I don't post much (due to the online shyness factor and the fact that the things I see here completely blow me away so much that I just kinda sit here in awe and wonder if I could ever make anything as awesome!) however, I do make some of the crafts I see here.

So, looking forward to contributing a bit more and hopefully I'll end up doing some of the Crafty Swaps Smiley

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas!

It's ok, I figured it out through some ferocious googling.

 Back to lurking...
344  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Help needed! (Making hats for sock monkeys) on: December 17, 2009 09:33:40 AM
Hi all, long time lurker here. (I get a little shy in forums so my apologies for not saying anything sooner.)

I was wondering if anyone could offer some heavenly crafty advice for me. I've been making an army of sock monkeys for my boyfriend who absolutely loves them so for Christmas I'm making him an uber special sock monkey, Rorschach from Watchmen. (My BF is very much into his comics and let's face it, Rorschach is incredibly cool!)

I'm doing well so far but the only thing wrecking my head is the hat. I just cannot grasp how to do it. Even if my sewing machine worked I still wouldn't be able to figure it out Sad
 Can anyone please help?

Thanks!

He's awesome! Definitely unique!

I'm wondering if he's any relation to BunBun from Sluggy Freelance comics Smiley

Hi, I just wanted to say that I made my own, mostly following your instructions. It's so lovely and warm!

I've also blogged this link by the way!
