11  DOMO KUN! (Giant and Mini) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by thingsivemade on: March 08, 2011 12:22:02 PM
I've always loved the Domo Kun meme and I would like an army of them for my plans. (World domination, in case you're wondering.) I'm doing well so far!

Here is a mini Domo Kun, made from felt and most certainly no larger than my hand:

For the next shot, I've put my phone in for comparison. I realised that without it, it's impossible to tell how bloody huge this thing is. (Mini Domo Kun is in there for a larf.)

I hope you like them! I had a lot of fun making them Smiley

12  From scratch: my first top (Blue Girl) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by thingsivemade on: December 29, 2010 01:23:58 PM
I got a new fancy sewing machine for Christmas from my darling boyfriend, and it is extremely impressive. For the first time ever, I can sew stretchy fabrics with ease and without using fabric paper and/or stabilizer, woot! After resizing a few tshirts to test out all the different stitches, I managed to make my own top, from scratch! I didn't use a pattern, but I did use a fitting tshirt for the sleeves. The fabric is a stretchy knit and is from a shop in Dublin called Murphy Sheehys.

I apologise for the quality of photos, my brain always shuts down a lot when I've finished a project  Smiley

(By the way, in case anyone is wondering about those pants that I'm wearing, my awesome sister got me comic book pants for Christmas. Now I'm entertained no matter what part of my flat I'm in!)

13  A patchwork blanket and a bit of a ramble... in Quilting: Completed Projects by thingsivemade on: November 08, 2010 01:18:30 PM
So, it turns out that by putting all of our spare change into an empty cassarole dish for a year and a half, my boyfriend and I end up with quite a bit of spendy money! I stared at the 100 in my hand and decided immediately that I was going to spend it ALL on sewing. I've become a lot more obsessed with sewing lately and there was probably a mad gleam in my eyes as I made my way to my favourite craftatorium.
Once there, I got a whole bundle of things, including a lot of amazing fleece that felt softer than a pile of kittens. I knew I wanted to make a blanket that would cover both myself and my BF but I felt that my material stash was rather lacking when it came to such a big project.
And then, success! On my travels to a charity shop, I came across a magnificent red and white floral bed cover (and was inverted on the back) that would do the job.

This is easily the biggest project I've ever worked on and it's not totally finished (I still have quilting left to do, but that's for another time). I spent most of my weekend working on this and my back is aching but it's so worth it to snuggle under it and be incredibly toasty warm!

It's actually so big that I don't have room in my flat to be able to take a full shot of it:

Best part is? I still have 50 to spend!

14  Re: * (Mini) Nerd Swap Gallery of Amazingness * in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by thingsivemade on: April 30, 2010 02:47:07 PM
I've received from Metal Vyxen, woo! I actually got up at 7am this morning just to pick it up from the post office just so I could have a peek before I left for work! It made my morning so much Smiley

First off, I apologise for the couch as the background but I was too tired to set up a mini studio.
So, without further ado, here they all are together:

Some gorgeous fabrics to work with, I love them! Gun blasters and cogs, reminds me of Ratchet and Clank Cheesy

A pair of awesome earrings, swords with skulls on them!

If I get no crafting done for a day, it might be because I'm playing with this!

Uber nerdism points here, a plushie floppy! Cute, aint he? But wait, he came with a letter of upmost importance...it turns out he's actually responsible for promoting Y2K and scaring folk worldwide, just so he could have all of the computers to himself! He was then branded a reject for the rest of his life and must be watched closely at all times.
Lol the entire letter made me laugh so much!

Lastly, something to keep me warm, nerdy and trendy during this usual Irish spring weather (it's practically monsoon season again), a fleece scarf!

Thank you Metal Vyxen, they are incredible and AWESOME!
(And my male nerd friends are jealous too!)

15  Re: Monthly Odd Holiday - May in The Swap Gallery by thingsivemade on: April 24, 2010 03:04:47 AM
So I received from nostephot yesterday but it took me until now to find that blasted camera and upload the pics!

For Jigsaw Puzzle day, I got this awesome bracelet, a ring and pin in one very cute jigsaw bag! (By the way, my sister is trying to covet the bracelet! She keeps dropping hints that it's her birthday soon lol!)

Some closeups:

For Make A Book Day, I got some very fancy notepads!

This little book is so cute, and it has my initials on it! I think this is one I'll have to make into a necklace Smiley

Aaaand last but not least, Dinosaur Day! (Apologies for the dark pic, the pterodactyl is actually a badge!)

2 buddies! Methinks this would make for a great avatar Cheesy

I love them all, and the bags they all came in were also so lovely! Thanks nostephot, these are brilliant!

16  Quilted Belt (Thread moved from quilting to clothes) in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by thingsivemade on: March 26, 2010 11:57:20 AM
I was in the wrong board initially!

I was inspired to try this tutorial out:
http://obsessivelystitching.blogspot.com/2009/12/quilty-belt-tutorial.html

I didn't get any before shots, but the belt is a standard canvas belt with 2 D rings. Oh and it was brown and boring. Now it's fun and colourful!

Trying to photograph all the details...

Slightly blurry due to a feverish photographer pretending he's not all that sick (he is.)

Thanks for looking, let me know what you think!

I received my package from Opalgryphon! T'is seriously the awesome. Sorry, I'm a little nerdy and excitable today, it must be because of...

I started busting myself laughing immediately when I saw that! Then I opened it and laughed even more because it was my very own...ne-ne-ne-ne-ne-ne-ne BATMOBILE! My nerdy friends are going to be so jealous!

For Cherry Blossom Festival, she made this gorgeous wire wrapped pen (which can also be used for National Card & Letter Writing Month). This is definitely my new favourite pen, as it reminds me of one of my favourite times of the year.

And then, for National Card & Letter Writing Month, Opalgryphon went through my graffiti and street art set on my Flickr, and printed out cards of my own photos!

I must say, that really was a lovely surprise, it's quite the compliment to think my photos are worthy of being cards Smiley

Thank you! They're all so awesome!

18  Re: Monthy Odd Holiday - April (send out 3/24) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by thingsivemade on: March 11, 2010 06:24:58 AM
He's still not quite finished but he's getting there!

I added a pincushion, a glue gun, knitting needles, a utility belt and a cape! I tried making the cape look as knitted as possible but currently kind limited in my fabric/patterns in Photoshop.

Oh and I've been told to say this: my boyfriend wants to take credit for the line "says OH GOD YES to crafting with strangers! On a first date!"  Grin he's very proud of that one!

Ok, so here's a not-so-great-but-will-do-better-later version of our Danger Swap Man:

Any thoughts on improvement anyone?

I'm considering Photoshop a mini break from crafting, I'm almost finished projects 2 & 3. Project 1 is finished and makes me giggle and I honestly can't wait to see what Opalgryphon thinks of it!
If all goes well, I'll be able to post them out before Friday, woo!

Belladune, I'm making more coffee if you want some!  Grin
*toddles off to make more*

20  Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy embroidery - my first try! in Needlework: Completed Projects by thingsivemade on: March 03, 2010 11:49:55 AM
I'm really pleased with how this turned out. Ok, so it's not perfect but considering I only started embroidery yesterday. There's a couple of mistakes but I think I managed to patch them up neatly enough. I also probably did it all wrong but I enjoyed it anyway!

I basically just made a stencil from the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy movie (which I had plans for spray paint stencilling initially) and tried to stitch it as neatly as I could!

It now proudly resides near my PC monitor!
