261  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Newbie Swap Round 14! (signups Sept 9-23/2010 Send out Oct 25/2010)CLOSED! on: October 19, 2010 03:15:42 AM
finished! i have been sewing so much yesterday, that i think i actually got a RSI and can't move my left arm... that's also why i can't use capital letters or any other symbols that need two hands for typing... but the pain is probably also due to my job which involves 8 hours of doing stuff on the computer.
anyway, i'm really happy that i joined the swap. one of the things i made is one of my favorite things i have ever made... and totally worth the pain Smiley i'm going to the post office now...

I still have to make the medium item. Reading about all of your packages sent is making me panic:) I hope I'll finish today and send it tomorrow:)

Still the same here, haven't finished anything new. Two of my favorite artist had concerts in my country in the last week. On Saturday there was Grinderman(Nick Caves band) and there was Leonard Cohen yesterday. It was an awesome week, but i still haven't managed to rest since Sunday and I don't want to sew my finger again because of the tiredness:). I did however buy some small goodies for the package and I hope I'll finish till Sunday so I can send the package on Monday:)
I also haven't replied to my partner since Sunday, I'll do that in the afternoon:)
And don't worry windgie79, I'm patient when waiting for packages. I remember when spoonflower fabric need more that a month to come, and I somehow didn't panic:)

awwww, that's sooooooooooo cute! I admit, i clicked on the topic because of a cat thumbnail and I was not disappointed:) Both of your cats are nice, but Bomber is my favorite. Once I grow up (I keep saying that, although I'm pretty much grown up) I want a cat like that:) And your bow ties! Awesome! The cats look so elegant:D

There was kawaii contest on spoonflower some weeks ago. I have had the idea of making a bag pattern on fabric for quite some time, so I decided I'm gonging to use that possibility and make a bag pattern for a kawaii kitty tote.

so that's what i came up with:

(the link to the spoonflower site: http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric_items/new?design_id=348963 )

and the printed version looks like this (it's much the same as the digital version, only the colors look better. I think i designed the picture in CMYK or something:):

The finished bag looks like this:

I am very pleased with the results. I chose linen cotton canvas, because it's sturdy enough and the bag doesn't need any interfacing (i don't like interfacing, it's really hard to get the right one at the stores where I buy fabric). I have to make some corrections with the pattern, but when I'm done I'll make more designs. I love how much easier it is to make a bag if you have the pattern on the fabric and you don't have to transfer anything or measure anything... Computers are much better at measuring than me:) And it's so much fun to create the outside of the bags, the lining and even add some things to the pockets. I guess you could do it by hand, but it would be so much more work.... It's not the cheapest solution, but I still love it:)

Once I start an etsy (if ever:)) I'll probably make starter kits for sewing bags. I'm not sure because i don't know if I'm good at giving instructions. Especially in English:) There are some instructions on the fabric already, I wanted to try that out, but i think they take up too much space that could be used for useful fabric:)

I would really like some feedback, so please, please say something:) but if you're not in the mood, thanks for taking the time and reading all of this:D

I was really afraid when i read the first few posts about people having finished their projects! I'm still at one small, 1/4 of the medium one, and I'm still not sure which of the projects I thought of I will make for the second small one... But luckily, I'm not the only one. I hoped I will finish really early since I'm from Europe and my package will need some time to arrive. I still hope I'll finish some days before the 25th, but now I also hope that the post is faster than I imagine:)
