There was kawaii contest on spoonflower some weeks ago. I have had the idea of making a bag pattern on fabric for quite some time, so I decided I'm gonging to use that possibility and make a bag pattern for a kawaii kitty tote.
so that's what i came up with:
(the link to the spoonflower site: http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric_items/new?design_id=348963
and the printed version looks like this (it's much the same as the digital version, only the colors look better. I think i designed the picture in CMYK or something:):
The finished bag looks like this:
I am very pleased with the results. I chose linen cotton canvas, because it's sturdy enough and the bag doesn't need any interfacing (i don't like interfacing, it's really hard to get the right one at the stores where I buy fabric). I have to make some corrections with the pattern, but when I'm done I'll make more designs. I love how much easier it is to make a bag if you have the pattern on the fabric and you don't have to transfer anything or measure anything... Computers are much better at measuring than me:) And it's so much fun to create the outside of the bags, the lining and even add some things to the pockets. I guess you could do it by hand, but it would be so much more work.... It's not the cheapest solution, but I still love it:)
Once I start an etsy (if ever:)) I'll probably make starter kits for sewing bags. I'm not sure because i don't know if I'm good at giving instructions. Especially in English:) There are some instructions on the fabric already, I wanted to try that out, but i think they take up too much space that could be used for useful fabric:)
I would really like some feedback, so please, please say something:) but if you're not in the mood, thanks for taking the time and reading all of this:D
