4121  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Decoupaged Box on: February 09, 2010 12:55:17 PM
I hope I'm putting this in the right spot - if not, let me know and I'll move it!

Anyway, for the Organize Me Swap, I decided I just had to decoupage a box with little compartments for my partner.  I didn't get a before picture, but imagine a wooden box with red and green faux-victorian holiday people frolicking on the top and you're close (who knew that Pier One made mulling spices?)  Anyway, she likes red/white/black combo and Celtic, so I went with both of those.  I bought a pendant that looked Celtic (to me, anyway) to glue to the top as decoration and removed the little gold latch on the front to be replaced by a painted wooden bead.

It looks 110% better in my not-so-humble opinion. Smiley

4122  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Project Bag on: February 09, 2010 12:51:04 PM
For the Organize Me Swap, my partner indicated she'd like something that could organize her crochet/knitting but could also be taken along.  I loosely based what I did on this tutorial by stitch81, but I mostly just went with what I had in my head and this is what resulted:

The inside:  I made a scissor holder and a little snapped pocket for yarn needles or other oddments:

The drawstring bag that holds the yarn and snaps next to the scissors and the needle pouch:

On the other side a pocket for whatever she wants to carry:

Okay, since SprigofIvy has received and says she's super busy, I'm going to post pictures because I really liked what I made! Smiley

Everything all together:

A box that I decoupaged - it used to hold mulling spices (so it should smell good).  Since SprigofIvy lives red/black/white combo and Celtic things, I chose paper that looked vaguely Celtic to me.

A fabric box, as requested (to go with her like of lime green and her like of deep purple)

And finally, the project bag for her knitting/crochet:

The inside:  I made a scissor holder and a little snapped pocket for yarn needles or other oddments:

The drawstring bag that holds the yarn and snaps next to the scissors and the needle pouch:

On the other side a pocket for whatever she wants to carry:

Smiley  I hope you liked everything, SprigofIvy!

SprigofIvy says she's received!  WOO HOO.  I was half afraid that some disorganized postal worker had appropriated it!

I got off my rear end today and am halfway through a set of _______________ which will be one of the smalls. Cheesy  I'm venturing out in the Scary Arctic (aka the 24-30" of snow we got over the weekend) to get to Joann's before the second round of snow tomorrow night to get what I need for the large (and possibly the other small!)

I didn't get to send Saturday as planned.... I only use my brain a few times a week and apparently Friday wasn't one of them and I forgot to write down my partner's address!!  (can't get that spiffy internet out in the boonies  Tongue ) so I'll be posting after work.  Well... I hope so... are all post offices closed today??  I must have missed that somewhere.  Maybe cause of the snow?  Somebody help me out here!!  Cheesy

Yes, some POs are closed due to the snow the east coast states got!  Not all, though.  I know all were closed Saturday in my neck of the woods, but I'm hoping for service today!

First of all, let me just say that the Gallery is awesome!  Everyone here is so darned talented and I really hope Craftrica gets her package sooooon!

In other frugal news, I got my order of soap and made up the laundry soap.  It seems a lot more frugal than the store-bought kind, even with shipping of the bar soap.  $11.50 for 7 bars of soap and I used 3 + $4 for the Borax and $4 for the Washing Soda ... I've got enough of all of it to make at least one more batch, and it will have Borax and Soda left over.  I use 2 T or so per load, so it'll last a while.  Smiley  It hasn't got the perfumed smell of most store-bought kinds, but it smells clean and fresh (even if it's not what I'm used to!)

I also roasted a chicken and made my own chicken stock last week.  (I need to plan to use the chicken better, because I didn't finish it before it went bad.)  I've already used some of the stock in soup and it was so yummy!

That being said, I'm still snowed in here.  24-30 inches of snow (depending on where you measure) with more snow Tuesday night.   I might make up some more soup, in fact!

There are a few people I haven't heard from.  I'll be sending out personal PMs tomorrow, but please everyone check the list at the beginning of this thread to make sure I've recorded who's sent/received correctly!

And the packages still look fantastic!  Cheesy
mine is correct but my partner said she had to go out of town and left it so she will be sending monday just to let you know because her name is in black.

Thank you!  Smiley
