OOh yes, and I'd think one of those would last a single person far more than a week.  *hug*  Thank you!

Hi all!   Grin

Yay for a successful swap!   Kiss  I should be opening Round 2 at the end of the month, have a month for crafting, send-outs beginning of May.  Should I put up an interest thread in the New Swap Ideas board?

Anyway, THANK YOU FOR BEING AWESOME!!!

And now for the non-swappy portion of the post ... (if that annoys you, please just read the above!  I'm not trying to be annoying, but there's some momentary panic setting in ...)  Someone close to me (not me!) isn't doing so well financially.  Her income is less than her outgoing.  She's not happy about having to scale back, etc etc, but she really doesn't have a choice.  I've given her some hard truths tonight, given her her marching orders to pay off some debt ASAP, cancel a couple of services altogether ...  what else can I suggest she do?  Her electric bill alone is astronomical ... and there's a 99% probability that she'll be paid less soon (hence the panicking on her part).

So I'm turning to you, lovely Craftster peeps.  Any advice for an older woman to save money on a monthly basis?  Tips on weatherizing? (I've made her a draft dodger for her front door.  She's in a condo, though, so she can't do too much, but anything non-permanent ...)  Feel free to PM so we don't annoy people or anything with OTish discussions!

Sorry for piling this all on you all, but I knew you'd have great ideas that I haven't thought of!  (As a side note - I'm feeling better about her situation than I did when I arrived at her house this afternoon, but it's still not spectacular.)  THANK YOU!

Ooh yes!  I've got a project on one set, but the other pair will be in its home very soon! (I think the poor things are at the bottom of my knitting basket... need to find them!)  Thank you so much!

I received from ariaya today!!!  She soooo spoiled me and I hope the package I sent to her gave her as much excitement as the package I got today gave me!

Top row:
Romney - 190 yards, light worsted 2-ply - I love the rich, gorgeous jewel tones!
Merino-silk - 200 yards, light worsted 2-ply - oh, the colors in this are just gorgeous and it's so soft!

Bottom row:
Alpaca-silk - laceweight, 2-ply ... I can't wait to start experimenting with laceweight!
Camel-silk - fingering wt, Navajo plied - again, the colors are fabulous
Merino - thick-and-thin, 2-ply - hee - my college colors!

Thank you SO SO much, ariaya!  This was such a happy surprise to find in my mailbox after a weekend of being sick.  I love everything!

I received from SprigofIvy today!  Smiley  Just what I needed to cheer me up after a weekend of being sick.

A thread catcher so I won't be covered in thread when I'm done sewing:

An apron so I won't lose things as I craft:

And a knitting needle roll for my large needles (I got one for my shorter ones that's all full from a previous swap!) ... I still needle to transfer the rest of my needles in:

Thank you, SprigofIvy!

I love the face scrubbies. How were they made? I would love to make some if there is a knitting pattern.

I crocheted the scrubbies using a magic ring and then 2SC into each ... increasing each round (I don't remember, exactly, what I did -I think a round of SC, then a round of DC, then maybe a round of SC).  You could do the same thing with knitting- just knit in the round, probably kfb every other stitch would get you the right size/tension ... but those who are better knitters than I am probably have a better idea.

Okay, we officially have a flake-free and package-losing-free swap!  Woot!

Everyone should have feedback now, too.  If there are problems, please let me know!

Yay swappers!  I can't wait to see those last two packages!
