That happens to me, too, so I'm curious about any tips anyone else may have.  Honestly, I find the non-ultra fine pens work better, mostly because it's not a metal tip, it's the felt (?) tip.  That has the downside of getting a bit scraggly on the ends, but I think you can buy replacement tips for them.
