3501  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Singles Swap? on: September 22, 2010 08:34:58 AM
I'm so happy to see interest!

When is good for everyone?  How big of a swap do we want?  I couldn't do a big swap, so may 4 points?  Other suggestions?  I think including a 'candy requirement' is a fun idea. Cheesy  (or sweets in general)

We're in the home stretch of sign-ups!  Only six days to go!

If you're sitting on the fence, send that questionnaire in!

Glad to see a lot of interest!  Since a lot of us are pressed for time, would you be interested in a mini version, or having an option to sign up for mini or the full version at the time of the swap?

I was thinking to have sign ups around the first or second week in October, and send outs right after Thanksgiving/first week in December.  How is that time frame for you guys?

I'd love a mini version, I think, as I will also be having to finish up Christmas gifts for my extended family. (I swear, I will finish those socks ... it just might be for NEXT Christmas. Wink )

That time frame works really well for me, though!
3504  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: My Wonky House Quilt made from my Craftster swap on: September 19, 2010 05:03:23 PM
Oh wow, this is so very cool!  And I'm super impressed with the hand quilting!

This looks fun.  It all depends on how my other two swaps are going, but I'd love to participate!

Well, I'll be attending four weddings within the next year or two ... a fact which, while I am SUPER excited that my friends and cousins have found awesome people they want to spend the rest of their lives with, sort of makes me go 'ho hum, I'm 31 and single and it's stinking hard to meet a man when you don't drink and work in a mostly-female environment'.  So instead of feeling more sorry for myself, I was thinking that at some point channeling my pity party into a I AM AWESOME JUST THE WAY I AM party might be fun.  And since I don't generally craft for myself, I thought it might be fun to craft for someone else!

Is there any interest in this?  Always single, newly single, divorced, widowed, whatever!  If you don't have a mate, then you'd be welcome.

It could even be holiday-ish, if people wanted to do it sooner, rather than later.

Ooh, I haven't seen Holiday Inn.  I'll have to find that and watch it.  Thanks, blushingbluegrass!

My all-time favorite Christmas movie is definitely White Christmas.  I'm a sucker for a musical!  Though I'm partial to claymation Rudolph, too!

Cheesy

As for a stocking, I would like something more traditional.  Unless my partner thinks of something that she/he thinks is just PERFECT for me.  Cheesy  I guess I'm not too helpful.

I was thinking about making a list as well to post but looking at all of the things that  other  people want I want it all!! I was curious about  how dryer balls work?

Dryer balls are really cool - they roll around in the dryer with your wet clothes making them not clump together, which dries them faster.   I've also been able to stop using dryer sheets because the ones I have work pretty darn well as anti-static things too!

My clothes might not smell as nice as they used to, but the lack of chemicals is making me a happy camper!

Ooh great question, TSM!

Hmm ...

  • checkbook cover as I would like a pretty one Cheesy
  • Christmas and other holiday cards
  • Christmas decorations of all kinds
  • Handcrafted stamp of some kind (they look soooo cool)
  • reusable fabric bags for presents
  • lunchbag (pref. insulated somehow, that's big enough on the bottom to handle a sandwich sized Gladware
  • utensil roll & napkin to take to work
  • preserves!
  • sachets of some kind to put in my sock drawer
  • drying rack for plastic Ziploc bags
  • reusable snack bag
  • un-paper towels

It seems my list is pretty extensive, too, and I'm sure there's stuff I've forgotten. Cheesy

Stuff I can make:

  • most of the above, really (which begs the question why I haven't made some for myself already)
  • knit/crochet dish or wash cloths
  • dryer balls  (so glad you like yours, Troublet!  I adore mine, too!)
  • recipes
  • garden stuff (as I have finally decided that my balcony is not really suitable
  • holiday-themed stuff (any holiday!)
  • beer bread/hot chocolate/bean soup mixes
  • jar covers
  • most anything sewn, really!
