3471  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Pet Swap: Rodent Revolution 2 Gallery on: June 29, 2010 10:28:07 AM
I've received!!!  And oh my, QuietChampion is an AWESOME partner!  Her sewing machine broke AND she was in the middle of a move, but she pulled off an awesome package!  And it's her first swap to boot!

Here is my plethora of pictures ...

She woodburned two boxes for me - one for the bunnies' treats and one for Chloe's medicines to make it all pretty and neat!

Here's the small box - I adore the Beatrix Potter picture.  The bunny is hiding just like Chloe tries to do when she's given the medicine that doesn't taste as good as the other one!  Hee!

And filled with bunny medicine:

And this is the big one that she free-handed, OMG!  It's gorgeous and it must have taken her forever!  It's now holding their treats.

The top: (sorry it's sideways!)

And the front:

And here's Gus pretending not to be interested - you can see the awesome appliqued blanket for him, too!  Isn't the little bunny so cute?  And it's in a manly color too, which Gus appreciates (even if he's pretending not to be interested).

And then he decides that maybe he'll check it out ... (please ignore the hay that gets everywhere!)

I'll try to get a picture of him later when he "rearranges" the blanket (he doesn't like coming out of his cage during the day - go figure - and Chloe used to not mind, but I think she's getting worse. Sad  Her cataract is making it really hard for her to see anything just now and she doesn't often venture too far from her cage.)

And for me - omg - an adorable little bag and some loose lavender tea!  It's from her hometown, which is a historical village and the place has been serving tea since the late 1800s.  Seeing as how I adore history and tea, this is perfect for me!  And oh my, does it smell divine!!!  And, apparently, if I add lemon to the lavender tea it will turn pink.  I'll have to try this out!

There was also supposed to be a little bag of goldfish, in honor of my goldfish, but *grins* it apparently got eaten before it got into the box.  hee hee.  My goldfish really appreciates the thought, though! Cheesy

Thank you so very much, Champ!  You are an awesome partner and I hope you and your ratties will love the package that I sent as much as I adore everything you sent!!!

I can't wait for this!!

Me either!  I found something in my closet to use (if I can bear to cut it) and I think it'll look awesome.
3475  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: need advice on sizing/drafting a tote insert... on: June 28, 2010 07:41:19 PM
Okay so the bags you're going to put the inserts in ... are they consistently 12 cm wide?  Are you measuring on the outside or on the inside?  If on the inside ...

I'd do a little 'box' with those dividers.  If you didn't need every last centimeter of the 30 centimeters for the fan and pamphlets, I'd make everything an inch smaller than your original measurements (so cut the fabric to the exact measurements you have and use a half inch seam allowance ... or quarter in if you want to have just a half inch of extra room).  I think that'd let you get it in and out more easily.  Since you do ... well, I don't know if there is a way.  If the pamphlets are 30 cm and they just fit into the bag, then putting something else into the bag has to be smaller, or else it won't fit into it.  Could you leave the ends off those parts?

Or - here's an idea - make a box for the smaller stuff (the pocket type things and the drink holder) and then have two flat inserts that are just basically walls that separate the fans from the box?  I'd definitely use stiff interfacing so those walls can stand up on their own.

Not sure if I've made sense or if I've helped, sorry!  Good luck!

I can't wait for partners!  And I'm with you, pixieval, I want a real life Craftster friend too!  (And seriously, it's taken me this long to figure out why I haven't been getting emails that this thread has been updated ... because I didn't actually posted in it.  Whoops.)

I've sworn I won't sign up for any more until I get my Geezer swap package out, so I'll likely sign up in a smidge.  This will give me the motivation to finish that package!

I was going to suggest 'something from your closet' but I think that's already covered.

Hmm ...

something from the kitchen or office?

Does the entire bag have to be recycled materials?  And if not, what percentage has to be?  Smiley
