Re: Craigs List. You might not get an answer the first time you put it on Craigs List, but try again in a week or so. I put an new ad on last nite, and had a response already. Sometimes someone may offer to sell you a bag of fabric for like $5 which can be a good deal too. My first ad was answered by a lady who mailed me a box full of fabric. She is a professional dressmaker, and such a nice lady. If this intimidates you, look for fabric at yard sales. Lots of people buy with the intention of making SOMETHING and never get around to it, so when they have a garage sale they put fabric, patter ns, paints, notions, batting and fiberfill, etc out and you can get them real cheap. Also try smaller thrift stores.
Just today, I went to a yard sale, to "look". I had exactly $1 in my wallet and wasn't going to get more. I found a box of fabric and in it, a mostly finished dress. I got it for a $1- there's at least one yard of fabric (even though it's sewn), several pins and a zipper that I already know I'll use when I remake a dress I have into a skirt. Not too shabby!
