3281  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Invite Your Partner swap? on: December 29, 2010 09:14:44 PM
I've never done an IYP swap either and it sounds very very cool.  But like others, I don't know who to ask.  Eeep.  I need to get stalking!

Ahem, a bit about me ... I'm mostly a sewer, though I occasionally knit (and even more occasionally crochet though I'm not very confident in that!).  I also like crafty crafts - with glue and such.  Cheesy  I embroider, do shrink plastic items, and some jewelry. I have rabbits, so if you're allergic, I wouldn't be a good partner (though I'd obviously lint roll whatever I sent!).

Okay now off to stalk.

3284  COOKING / Dessert / Snowmen Hats on: December 29, 2010 03:39:34 PM
In some catalog over Christmas, I saw these advertised a dozen for $30.  As they were Oreos with marshmallows on top covered in chocolate, I thought we could make some for cheaper than that.

And so ... we did!

(with "snow" aka Confectioner's Sugar)

The ingredients (minus the sugar):

Melt the chocolates in a double boiler (with a little help from Mom):

When melted, remove to a work surface and dip Oreo in it:

Then dip a marshmallow:

Put the marshmallow on top of the Oreo:

And then you'll get a collection, to let cool/dry/harden/verb of your choice:

Mom and I put them on plates and dusted with powdered sugar.  They'd also be tasty with mint Oreos and dark chocolate instead of milk (I prefer milk, though) and maybe a little strip of fruit roll-up around the base as a 'hat band'.

3285  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Embroidered Purse from an Embroidered Skirt on: December 29, 2010 07:31:21 AM
Woo hoo, thank you both!  Smiley  I haven't worn the skirt in AGES and I didn't think I was going to again.  I hope whoever gets it in the swap likes it as much as I do.

Wow - I've never heard of Biscornu before.  Are they just decorative?  Can they be used as ornaments?

Regardless, yours are lovely!

Oh my.  I'm blinking away tears right now.  What a sad story and what a gorgeous quilt.  I know that her family will appreciate the thought, love and prayers that went into it and will treasure it.
