Congratulations!  I can't wait to see the finished project!  And hmm, I might paint the dresser white and go with the green drawers - you can always  add something to a drawer if it's too plain.

And those crayons are great!  And I love the owl doorstop!

<3Miss B.

It is indeed my first attempt - but hopefully not my last.  It was fun!  Thank you very much, Miss B! Smiley

i think it's pretty alright!  I love your color combination. Your corners look really sharp too!

Thanks, Belladune!  I just need to work on how the corners look on the back, I think.  Good thing the back isn't seen often, right? Cheesy

And OMG, I made something for ME.  This is amazing!

Wow, Kaz! That was your partner's first ever quilting project? I'm impressed!

Thanks, dharma!  Cheesy  Mostly I think she's unhappy with the corners on the back.  But it was a definite learning experience and it's already been put to work!
3118  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / A Cheerful Stripey, Flowery Mug Rug on: January 26, 2011 11:57:38 AM
Hello quilters!  I have just finished my first mug rug and wow ... I bow down to all of you who do anything bigger!

This is my finished piece:

I made my own bias tape and I think I know what I did wrong on attaching it (though I think I've done alright with the mitred corners on the front, at least), so that's something, but I'm not going to show you the back. Wink

BUT I have a question ... how do get it so when I quilt the layers together, one side doesn't pull and get off center?  I pinned it out the wazoo with straight pins.  Do I need the quilting safety pins?  (The little squares have become parallelograms.)

Please any comments, criticisms, and suggestions would be really really appreciated.  I want to make some for Christmas presents, but I wouldn't want to give something quite this newbie-feeling away, so if you have a suggestion, I would <3 you forever!

Well, I finished my mug rug.  Although it's by far from perfect, I did my best with her first ever quilting project/mug rug.  I love the colors and the fabric at least.  This was my first time making my own binding tape and wow, did I learn a lot about what to do ... and not do. Cheesy  I will also need to watch a few tutorials and ask a few questions on the quilting board.

But it's not toooo shabby for a first effort!

Wow, my partner finished my mug rug.  Although it's by far from perfect, I can tell she did her best with her first ever quilting project/mug rug.  I love the colors and the fabric choices.  This was her first time making her own binding tape and wow, did she learn a lot about what to do ... and not do. Cheesy
