1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Wool-eater blanket on: March 20, 2010 08:10:56 AM
I got this pattern from Sarah London's wonderful crochet blog. She has a free tutorial for it. I started making it about 9 months ago and was excited that I could manage something which looked so complicated as I am relatively new to crochet. I just finished it this week and have already given it away to a great friend who just celebrated her 50th birthday! She was delighted.
It is really soft and heavy and also reversible, as both sides of the pattern are equally charming.
To view more photos, read more about how I put the blocks together or get a link to the tutorial visit my blog

3  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / can I get my crochet hook out to crochet on a plane to the US? on: November 20, 2009 02:25:39 AM
I am travelling from Edinburgh, Scotland to New York tomorrow (for the first time - very excited!!) and would like to crochet during the long flight but am worried that crochet hook will be taken away as weapon. I have travelled with a crochet hook in my hand luggage lot's of times on domestic UK flights (without ever getting bag searched) but haven't tried getting the hook out to crochet yet (flights too short to need to!) Any advice would be very welcome! Thanks
4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Rememberance day poppy corsage on: November 08, 2009 06:00:16 AM
I have been playing around with crochet corsages recently, making them up as I go along. I plan to make a big bunch for Christmas presents. I thought it would be nice to make a poppy one for rememberance day. Don't know whether this is just a UK thing but it is traditional to wear artificial poppies fpr Rememberance Sunday (today) and armistace day on 11/11. I have to remember to give some money to one of the collecting boxes where they sell paper poppies as making my own means I have missed out on a donation which is the main point!

This cot quilt was made for my new Great nephew, Oscar - 3 weeks old now! You can take the little animals in and out of their 'baskets' - so it's a game too! The balloons were all 'reverse' aplliqued and then embroidered and hand quilted over the top. More photos and info here
