2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Calla Jewelry on: February 21, 2012 09:21:29 AM
So I recently have decided to try out making wire jewelry. It started when a friend of mine said she couldn't find a headpiece she liked for her wedding, and I volunteered myself to do something I hadn't done before.  So I made her a headband.

And so far we both really like how it turned out.
As I had a ton of calla beads left I decided to make some other stuff...

3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Toddler medieval/renaissance princess costume on: November 07, 2011 07:18:23 AM
I decided to make a costume for my "niece" for halloween. Pretty basic, over dress of leftover brocade, under dress made out of an old yellow sheet. I used no pattern. Total time probably 5 hours (including cutting and fitting)

Full shot (best I could get...she's a very active toddler)

Best shot I have of the front....I see threads in this pic I didn't see on the dress when I was trimming them....darn it all....

Wish I had better pics. I did not make the black undershirt....but as it was chilly here she needed an extra layer.
4  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / I made glitter shoes! (kinda pic heavy) on: February 01, 2011 09:11:27 PM
So, I've been lurking around craftster for awhile now....and after looking at all the reconned shoes I decided to try my hand at it. I wanted some custom glittery heels. So...I went to goodwill and hobby lobby and got some cheap (but really nice) heels and some pretty Martha Stewart glitters.

After the first coat of glitter. Sorry about the flash....best way to get the right color...

First coat still

Second coat. At this point to my eye they looked good....

Close up of glitters. Second coat.

Here you can see where the camera has shown me that, upon closer inspection, these need a third coat (due to image resizing I have circled the dark spots to make them easier to see)

Third coat and sealed!

They're so pretty and shiny! I'm so happy with how they turned out!  Grin
5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Pattern/zipper help? on: April 04, 2010 10:25:45 AM
So I bought this pattern  http://www.simplicity.com/p-1796-its-so-easy-misses-dresses.aspx  (and yes I am curvy girl)  and I absolutely love it...the size 18 fits nearly perfectly...except even though I followed the instructions to the T the zipper puckers out on the side...is this maybe because my waistline is shorter than what the pattern is drafted for? I have never done zippers before so maybe I just did something wrong? Would maybe adding a sash to tie in the back help? I would very much appreciate some help.
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Not sure this goes here...Mini hat help? on: March 03, 2010 07:28:52 AM
Sooo...I want to make a mini top hat, do you think I could make a form with cardstock/thin cardboard and then cover it with some satin? I was thinking something along these lines : http://www.feelingusa.com/costume-hats.cfm/6395     but with a liitle more....flair I guess...
