1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / hip in hemp...color suggestions and help? on: July 08, 2008 02:52:49 PM
Hip in Hemp from Knitty....

I had a bunch of random balls of colors and I just picked up what was the left overs at my LYS.  Anyway, I am making a large and have 4 yellow, 3 lt green and 3 blues...

and then I have 1 orange, 1 beige, one brown and 1 dark green.

I wondered if I could get away with this?  Somehow incorporating these random colors into the patter.  What do you think?  My shop does have some white left and I could pick it up but I was trying to save some money.

any suggestions?

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / feather and fan comfort shawl. What row am I on?? arrrrrgh. on: June 21, 2008 04:42:15 AM
Hi! I'm making this shawl and I've lost my place in the pattern. I can't remember what row I'm on and I'm pretty well into it. Is there any way to tell what row I'm on by the number of stitches?  I've made at least one repeat of the pattern and started back over at row 57 I think it is....

I don't wanna pull it out and I have to be someplace for a long time today and want to bring this project. thanks Smiley

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / feather and fan comfort shawl HELLLP on: April 06, 2008 07:27:13 AM
Can anyone help me with this pattern?  I'm on my third attempt.  Obviously I must have been doing something wrong.

First of all, is the middle stitch the same stitch the same middle stitch until the end?  I'm guessing yes.  I used some stitch markers to mark the middle this time.

Getting frustrated.

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / help with yarn/pattern suggestion? on: February 19, 2008 07:32:35 AM
I accidentally posted this on the finished projects forum....

I'm making my friend a hat...hippy snowboard girl.  I've decided to use (I think) some Hempahy yarn (3.5mm) but...

but!

I have 4 balls of different colors.  I'm not really thinking stripes....any suggestions how I can work this?  I wouldn't be opposed to using 2 strands together....would I still  need the same yardage?  I suck at knitting math.

This is the pattern I was thinking of....and I have a light brown, orange, minty green and yellowy color.  Each ball is 50 g/153 yards.

thanks for any help!

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / need hat suggestions! on: February 19, 2008 06:52:33 AM
I'd like to make a hat for a friend.  Think...hippy snowboarder chick.  Anything?

I know she likes cables (I think 2 of her other hats have them).  I'm thinking something slouchy.

And for yarn...I have some hempathy which I think is a 3.5 needle.  Either that or some noro silk something in an orangey colorway.

anyone have any suggestions?
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / crocheting a picture....help? on: January 26, 2008 05:57:35 PM
I was going to make the posterboy bag from stitch and bitch but as I sat down to redo my reworked picture, I wondered about crocheting it.  How does it work to crochet something like this? From what I understand, it's more sucessful to knit.  And..if so, I am assuming it's single crochet?  How do you travel with the yarn?  Same as knitting?

 My picture...

9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Cherry Pie... on: July 02, 2006 09:02:00 PM
I recently saw some gorgeous necklaces online and had to make one for a friend.  I've made a few bracelets and such but I'm a jewelry/beading novice.  Damn, those loops that you've gotta make at the top of the bead, to attach it...those are hard to make pretty!  I tried the version where you make the loop up top and then wrap the wire around it but it was too difficult and looked way crapier.  Any hints on those loops?

Anyway, here it is.    (I also have two new knitting projects on my blog....one's a cuff with beads and the other is a record album bag with a knit strap)

10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / can anyone help me make a chart for a wrist band? on: June 13, 2006 02:17:25 PM
I don't have photoshop and can't figure out how to do this. I tried micro revolt but they came out huge...  I tried tracing onto knitting graph paper and they look funny.  Anyone?  I would be sooo thankful!!! Smiley

Just the glove is fine...

Also if anyone has a NY Yankee chart done that would be awesome....I'd like to make one for my dad for fathers day!

Thanks everyone!
