Hi all ^_^
This is my first time posting anything that I've made.
I recently made a bunch of stuff for my teen daughter who is crazy about all things Japanese.
She asked for a yukata which is a kimono worn during the summer for festivals and such.
I used these sites as guides to make hers:
She wanted her kimono to be lined so I guess I really can't call it a yukata
Essentially the garment is comprised of many rectangles sewn together. If I only constructed the outside it would have been a cinch but since it was lined it was almost a nightmare with those split sleeve and split sides.
Oops, gotta watch that bottom hem
The obi is made of brocade from Jo-Ann Fabrics and was a big pain to sew because it just slid beneath my presser foot. Even my rollerfoot didn't seem to help and I don't have a presserfoot regulator.
She choose a tiko (drum) knot here.
I also made all the accessories for her kimono...except for the tabi (spit toe socks) and geta (wooden sandals) I let Ebay take care of some of that because I couldn't see myself breaking out the scroll saw and shellac in a pinch.
Oh well, hope you enjoyed my little offering.
