I have been holding on to this project idea since I saw it. I knew that whenever I had a baby I would make one, and now at 7.5 months pregnant I have one of my own!
This project is based on this one by Plumpkin: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=71926.0 I love this idea, and I absolutely adore the way it turned out! We are naming our daughter Hazel, so here's the book for her! Each page has a letter from her name featuring an animal whose name starts with that letter. In Plumpkin's creation, the name used had a lot more letters than Hazel, so I decided to feature a shape on the back of each page to make the book longer.

And here's a close-up of the zebra head, which I am particularly proud of, since all the stripes are hand-stitched with embroidery floss:
Right now I'm gaining all my inspiration from my unborn child. I'm caught up in what I'll be like as a mother, how I can make things the best for her, teach her to be as fair and loving and strong-willed as possible. I thought it only fitting then to enter this photo into the contest:
These are the shoes I bought for her to wear home from the hospital, cradled in her father's hands. I hope you like it!
I'm pregnant & have been scouring the Internet & pattern books for easy, fun baby things to knit. I came across this pattern for a Blanket Buddy, which is a small blanket that features a bunny face, ears, and two paws. The one in the pattern's photo looked kind of cute, being all pastel green and whatnot, but I have a feeling my baby's not going to be that into pastels. So I made my black. And it's kind of creepy, in a cute way.
Last winter I started working on a purse...but halfway through decided that what I really needed was a pillow! So I modified the pattern and made this cutie.
The green parts (it looks the same on the other side) were supposed to be the body of the bag. The band of variegated yarn was supposed to be the strap of the bag. I just made sure it was as long as the perimeter of the rectangle & sewed up the seams!
My best friend had her first child March 13th <3 I want to get her a Mother's Day present, but I have no idea what would be great for a new mother, since there aren't a whole lot of memories to drawn from. I wanted to give her a "Day Off," but I live a few states away now & that's not possible.
Any ideas would be great! What did you guys want when you were new moms?
A friend who also knits gave me this unfinished baby cardigan a while ago, which I then put away and forgot about until yesterday. I added some buttons & decided to try out duplicate stitch on it, since I wanted to learn how & needed something to practice on. A few hours later & this happened! I think it turned out ok, but my duplicate stitch clearly needs some work. You can still see all the yellow stitches!!!!
Hi everyone! I am working on my first item of clothing, a baby dress, plus using a real pattern for the first time. I've been doing pretty good so far, but I'm a little confused about some abbreviations. I've been doing increases in the pattern that are marked kfb, but now I'm coming up on increases marked m1. I'm not sure if they are the same or different, and if they are the same, why are they marked different?
