Morningdrive, just as a sidenote, which Radiohead song is that lyric from?  Awesome project.

The lyric is from "Street Spirit (Fade Out)" on the album "The Bends". Good stuff Smiley

1. Thumbtacks work really well to hold down all the little pointy bits of the stencil that like to stand.

Excellent idea! I've only done a couple stencils, but I had just been holding down those with my finger, and it was rather messy.

I use spray glue for my stencils.  I just coat the back lightly and let it dry nice and tacky, and then you can press it down almost like a sticker.  Make sure you spray it on thin let it dry though, because otherwise you end up with residue.

I used freezer paper for this stencil, which worked well for the most part because the sheets are really wide, and allowed me to avoid having to piece together sheets. Freezer paper is REALLY cheap too (about $3 for quite a bit). You just iron it onto whatever you're stenciling... there are a few tutorials here on craftster.

wow that is the cutest thing! what a nice idea, i bet he loved it!

He absolutely loved it! He has had it on his pillow since the night I gave it to him, and he always talks about how nice it is to sleep next to me when I can't be there. YAY Smiley

And thanks everyone for your awesome feedback Smiley And to the people who made one, I hope your boyfriends loved them too!! Cheesy

this is SO nice! I have a question though, does the paint feel rough on the pillow? If it doesn't I'm dying to know what paint you used because it came out so well! I wanted to do something like this for my bf, but I was afraid the paint would make it unsleepable, so I did embroidery and stuff instead. You did such a great job though, it's really cute!

The paint is actually a bit rough on the pillow, but I figured it would soften up after a few washes... it's just one coat of acrylic paint mixed with fabric medium. Next time, I think I would mix in more medium than the bottle tells you to, mostly to try and thin out the paint and allow it to absorb into the pillowcase a bit more. However, from experience with t-shirts, the acrylics soften after a few washes.

But GOOD NEWS! I gave the present to my boyfriend tonight and he LOVED it. He didn't even care that the paint was a bit rough... he said he'd be putting it on his pillow tonight. All in all, the gift was successful, and i highly recommend it for the sentimental boy who misses you a bunch when you're away Smiley

Merry Christmas everyone!

I did it in photshop. I basically just followed the tutorial

here and played around with the settings until it was just right Smiley

Mind if i make one for my boyfriend?

Of course not!! Share the love!! Cheesy

I go to college an hour away from home, which leaves me and my boyfriend missing each other a lot. He comes out to visit me as often as possible, and stays the night whenever he can, but when he's at home he always talks about how much he misses having me next to him [awww!]. So I came up with this idea! I took a picture of myself sleeping (or pretending to sleep... close enough), created a stencil out of it, and stenciled it onto a pillowcase. On the side, I added a Radiohead lyric which is one of the first things we talked about when we really started hanging out together. He mentioned how much he loved the line, and how someday he'd like to get it tattooed on his arm. So with the stencil of me, I guess it's kind of like I am sleeping there next to him.

Anyway, on to the pictures:

Let me know what you think!!

I received my cozies from gothmom on Friday of last week, but I was home for the weekend and forgot my camera at school  Tongue BUT here are the pictures!!

The first one is the cutest little pouch made out of a really soft, shiny fabric... it has a long ribbon tied to the top so i could wear it like a little purse.

The second one is my FAVORITE! It's made out of leather, and on the back there is a CHEMISTRY BEAKER stencilled on it (I am a chem major... and LOVE chemistry). It's so cute!

There's one more, but of course I forgot it at home. It's a cute little red stocking for Christmas time! I believe it even has bells on it, which is adorable. Gothmom, if you have pictures, feel free to post.

So yeah! This was fun. I'd do it again Smiley
