11  Unflattering to ready for spring dress! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by eliskimo on: April 23, 2012 05:57:20 AM
Yay! Another reconstructed dress found for 1 at my local thriftstore. I loved the fabric, but the collar and the fitting were.. yuck.

Plus: it's wearable 2 different ways!

First way with a low-cut front:

(And I love the batwings)

Second way: low-cut back. I think it looks really elegant, and prefer to wear the dress this way

Bonus shots!

12  Reconstructed teal dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by eliskimo on: March 24, 2012 07:29:51 AM
Hi there!

Another dress I thrifted (aaaages ago) for only 1 and reconstructed into something a bit more flattering. I didn't do much to it, I shortened it a bit and took out the elastic in the waist. And I put a belt on it, because (almost) everything looks so much better when you put a belt on it!

Excuse me for the picture overload. I got a bit excited with the modelling and my sister took a lot of pictures  Wink

And here's a little bonus jumping picture! Yay for spring!

Please let me know what you think! Any ideas on what I should make from the fabric I cut off at the bottom? (Not big enough to make a skirt off, unfortunately)

14  Big Mama (Owl Costume) in Costumes: Completed Projects by eliskimo on: March 24, 2012 07:20:11 AM
Hello everyone!

This is a costume I made for my 21th birthday. I threw a Disney themed party, and it was awesome!

I just used an old little black dress, cut out all these feather-shaped scraps and sewed it all together. I also made the mask out of felt scraps, and the wings out of an old bear costume.

Tell me what you think!

15  Flowery laptop case/bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by eliskimo on: January 20, 2012 02:53:56 PM
Hi everyone!

This is a laptop bag I made a few months ago, using this really good tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijVnShTsPcs&feature=player_embedded

I used a flowery fabric for the outside and a white on green polkadotted fabric for the lining. I also put in some kind of fleece material to make it a bit 'softer' (or I don't know how to say this in English).

I really liked the way it looked, but uh-oh:

Yes, I'm ashamed. I didn't measure properly I guess so it came out a little bit too small. But I still use it though, it does excellent work protecting my laptop!

Thanks for looking, let me know what you think! Smiley

16  Owl you need is love toys in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by eliskimo on: January 20, 2012 02:42:11 PM
Hi!

I'm a big owl fan, and for the winter holidays I made this huge owl krinkly toy.

(The text says something like krinkle owl)

I wasn't really shouting from happiness when I finished this, but I don't dislike it either. I'm just not really sure. It's a bit too big I think, and his eyes look a bit weird. But I looooove the fact that he makes noise when you cuddle him.

Without this lady and her tutorial it would have looked a lot worse, so here's the tutorial if anyone is interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0DBGcamXqk&feature=player_embedded

I also made this little felt buddy for my boyfriend, he can hang it on the mirror in his car. (so that he'll always think of me, oh how sweet.. haha)

I really like him, he does look super cute! Made him with the help of this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6HSg_OF38w&feature=player_embedded.

Thanks for reading! Let me know what you think please. :-)

17  men shirt to buttoned skirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by eliskimo on: January 20, 2012 02:32:44 PM
Hi there!

Another little project I did was with this yellow shirt for men I found at a thrift shop, I really like the yellow color, but I didn't really like shirts. So I thought I'd do something fun with it and changed it into a skirt, with one little pocket.

The final result:

Before (just an ordinary shirt):

More after pictures:

Don't mind my 'shoes', I get cold feet all the time, haha  Cheesy

18  oversized dress to cute summerdress (picture heavy) in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by eliskimo on: January 20, 2012 02:28:58 PM
Phew, it has been a long time not posting here!
But I was busy doing crafty stuff, lately I'm really getting into recycling old clothes. I usually buy something really cheap (they have sales there every month: everything for 1!) at a vintage shop in Antwerp and then (totally) change it/spice it up.

The final result:

A before picture, as you can see it was waaaaay too big on me, I didn't like the length nor the neckline.

So this is what I did, I shortened it a bit, took out the elastic and put in some new elastic and changed the neckline by adding a button to the side.

Really happy with the way it turned out!

What do you guys think?

19  Easy peasy skirt with pockets in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by eliskimo on: January 20, 2012 02:22:51 PM
Hi everyone!

It's been way too long since I posted some of my creations here, so here is one of my most recent things. I still had to buy/make my sister a present for her 19th birthday, and she really wanted a skirt.
So I made her one! No pattern needed, just cut out two big squares, four pocket pieces and an elastic, sew it all together et voil:

She was very happy with it, and I was too. Allthough the pockets are a little tiny, but it was my first time adding pockets so I'm still pretty proud of it.

Let me know what you think!

20  Flowery high waisted skirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by eliskimo on: November 26, 2011 05:15:23 AM
I took an old bed sheet (or duvet, I don't know what the term is in English) and made it into this high waisted skirt.

Before: an old bedsheet with a lovely pattern
(very crappy phone pic)

After: a high waisted skirt!
