1  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Hunger Games Shoes on: November 04, 2012 12:38:20 AM
It's been a really long time since I posted anything here.  But I just finished a pair of shoes for another craftster and had to share. Smiley

She gave me a pair of black canvas shoes she got from payless and said she wanted something hunger games related. The following is what I came up with.

The image isn't the best. It was taken with my cell phone. Thanks for looking. Smiley

As always  comments/critique/questions are always welcome.  Thanks again. Smiley
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Harry Potter Movie Like Wands on: November 11, 2011 03:57:46 AM
My girls are into Harry Potter recently. Not sure how or why since they have only seen the first movie and that was a while ago. Anyway, with the upcoming holiday and them being into the movie, I thought wands would make a great stocking stuffer! So after a few days (I usually only have a small window of time to work on stuff for them in the day), I finally finished these! I'm really happy with how they turned out! Especially the Griffindor colored one. I think thats my favorite.

These aren't movie replicas. They're just wands I made with the movie as inspiration.  The picture doesn't show it very well, but the colors have a sparkle sheen to them, like metallic almost. I think my girls are gonna be VERY happy with them also.  Cheesy

3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Need a good paint stripper for hotwheels on: November 10, 2011 05:51:05 PM
I have some hot wheels cars that I want to custom paint for my son. I have done this before but the last time I used a dremmel and sand paper and basically sanded all the paint away. It took forever! I was wondering if there was a good paint stripper that you know of that might work for this? Hot wheels cars have plastic pieces on them so the paint stripper can't weaken or dissolve the plastic.

I have tried acetone, but that didn't really work.  Any other ideas?

Thanks!!
4  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Anime/Manga Inspired Painted Shoes 4 images on: November 10, 2011 02:19:16 AM
So I found a new obsession-Painted Shoes!

However, after I finish them, I usually have no idea what to do with them. lol. It would have been smart to get all the shoes in my size.  sigh.  Oh well.

I wanted to share 4 of my favorites.  Grin

Cause you have to Love Totoro!

Ponyo for my daughter

The colors on this one are a bit off. The closest image to actual color is the middle one. These are my Hana-Kimi shoes  Grin Although they are much cleaner in this picture. They have gotten dirty since and need a good bath.

Kitchen Princess Shoes. These are left over from a convention I was at. They're too small for me, which is sad cause I love them so. Kitchen Princess is such a sweet manga.

As always, thanks for looking and C&C are welcomed.  Cheesy
5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Ballet Tutu on: May 31, 2011 12:07:12 AM
Recently my daughter has started ballet classes and she loves it. Her cousin, who also does ballet, had a very pretty and fluffy tutu that she wore in a presentation. My daughter requested one. After finding out what they had paid for my little cousin's tutu, I decided I could probably make one simular for less.

After three days of working on it, here is the final product of my efforts and my daughter loves it.

The tutu has two layers of toole and three colors.  It's also reversable and has the pink, purple and blue on one side where the blue and purple show more than the pink. The other side has more of the pink showing and only shows small bits of purple and blue. I also added teal ribbons that can be flipped over and seen from both sides, though I dont think you can see them in the picture.

The photo was taken after stretches and before the shoes go on, so the skirt is a little screnched and in disarray.  If I get a better picture I will post it. For anyone who tries to make one of these my biggest piece of advice is make sure you do your measuring without baggy clothes on. I didn't think a t-shirt would make that much of a difference, but it does. Lesson learned. Smiley

Thanks for looking.
6  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Ponyo Canvas Shoes!! on: April 28, 2011 10:04:11 PM
My daughter loved the Totoro shoes I painted for x-mas and wanted a pair of her own. She requested Ponyo and thus these were born.  I painted her favorite scene from the movie on her converses. She wears these almost everyday now. Nothing makes a mommy happier than having happy kids, especially when they're happy to show off their custom made shoes.

I painted this while on vacation with my hubby over spring break. I drew out the image and inked it with a sharpie while watching Get Shorty (a movie the Hubs had never scene-bogus for someone who loves Travolta). Then I painted them the following day while watching From Paris with Love (the new Travolta movie). So a total of maybe 3.5 hours. Not too bad for custom shoes.

Painting shoes is very addicting. I just wish I had more time. Come summer I'm going to run out of shoes to paint. lol.

Any comments/questions are always welcome. Thanks all.
7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Totoro Painted Shoes on: December 27, 2010 01:52:45 AM
I did these for a Christmas present this year. These are hand painted converse with acrylics and then sealed. I drew the design on the shoes with a mechanical pencil, then used a sharpie to go over my design outline and then painted in the outline. The whole thing took me 3 days as I had to wait for the paint to dry completely before sealing them. I'm really happy with how they turned out. Especially since this was my first time painting canvas shoes. I think the next pair I do will be Draculaura from Monster High.  Seems to fit a pair of pink and black shoes don't you think.

9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Baby Shower Diaper Cake on: April 14, 2010 05:15:43 AM
I thought I would jump on the band wagon and try my hand at posting one craft in every catogory.

This is a diaper cake I made a few weeks back for my Sister in law's baby shower. The diaper cake tiers are wrapped with receiving blankets, which I used as pockets to hold the goodies.

I love making diaper cakes but I don't love rolling all those diapers. ^-~
Roses were made out of socks, except the one in the back is a washcloth.

Back of the cake before the goodies were added. These are washclothes.
