That picture of flutter shy is too cute for words and I LOVED the idea for the pencil box. I can't believe that has never crossed my mind. What a great idea!

That actually has given me a neat idea. I will have to go out and get a new pair of shoes now.  Grin

I also think the high level acrylics will stop the bleeding issue. I have never had problems with mine and I use mid/low-grade artist acrylics. I just seal them to be extra safe. It would make me sad if to wear them and have them bleed, ya know what I mean.

And please do post them once you have finished them. I'm sure they will turn out beautifully.  Cheesy

Ooo Swirly pie could be cute. I see a multicolored cheese cake cutie mark.

That tiny Rarity is adorable. Would be super cute as a necklace.

I think it would depend on the shoes you use.  I primarily work with converse, vans and other canvas type shoes. So once the paint goes in, it doesn't come out. However, some acrylics will almost melt in the dryer, so you need to be careful of that. And I have heard that after time and lots of wear, they will crack and peel. I haven't expirenced this with mine though. So it could be the paints or the amount applied that causes this, not sure. It may also be that they didnt use a sealant.
I primarily use a sealant so they are water proof as I live in a rainy state. By sealing the entire shoe, the water beads off. They still get wet though after a while.  And I have heard that some acrylics will bleed when wet.

This is what I tried and it has worked well for me, so I figure if its not broke....right.

I haven't tried a gesso or a wet on wet technique. Before these I basically used water colors or would water my acrylics down to the consistency of water colors so, I haven't tried a lot of different stuff on the shoes. I wonder how gesso would fair? Its pretty perminant too once it gets in your clothes. I bet you would be fine with that...my concern would be it bleeding in the canvas....when you water the paints too much, they will bleed on the canvas shoes.

I would love to see how one of these techniques works out if you try it.

I had an idea, maybe some one near a craft or cooking store can help? I need some Christmas candy molds to make chocolate (the cheap $2 ones). My "local" stores don't have what I need. One has only big ones (like the size of a cookie). I needs smaller ones, like bite size, or a few bites. The other store keeps telling me they have them ordered, but never get them in. Since my "local" stores are an hour drive, I can't keep checking. Plus, it is a small town, so selection is always limited. Maybe someone could pick me up some and put them in their store? You would really be saving me. It would really be ideal if someone could get them shipped on Monday or Tuesday by priority mail, that way I could make some before my trip.

Used ones are good too, as long as they have only been used for cooking crafts.

eta: if someone was picking up the molds, I would also love this:

The stores by me don't have it.

I havent seen one of those palette things before but couldn't you just use an artist pallete (lookes the same) and the some brushes??

I will look and see if I can find some of those mold...I know the jo anns by my house has itty bitty molds for clay....were you thinking something like that?? Or the plastic candy molds?? and would the plastic ones be okay??
