1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Disappearing 9 Patch Quilt...Sock Monkeys! on: October 13, 2009 12:18:15 AM
I decided to pick up some of the wonderful Sock Monkey fabric that Moda released this year(?) to make a quilt for my youngest nephew. I was pretty happy with how it turned out. It was alot more work than I thought it was going to be. According to my sister though he adores them...I find them to be kinda ugly lol. Yet again my lovely husband is peeking over the top of my quilt lol. Here it is:

I have also included a close up shot so you can see the disappearing 9 patch part as well as some of the different designs in fabric that I used.

What do ya think?
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Sock Monkey Friendship Bags on: October 13, 2009 12:13:19 AM
I bought some of the Sock Monkey fabric that Moda released to make a quilt for my nephew and with some of the leftovers I had I created little bins/bags for my other two nephews. I think that they are so adorable! I was able to use my new quilting feet (one on each) to give myself some much needed practice before actually quilting a blanket. Overall I was pretty happy with the result.

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Friendship Bag examples...with link to tutorial on: October 02, 2009 09:12:14 PM
I love to make bags and when I saw these adorable little things I knew I had to make some for myself. This is also another example of something you can use a honeybun to create.

My idea with these is to make treat bags for my young nephew and his friend to use for Halloween. They are super easy to make and I would like to thank P.S. I quilt (http://www.psiquilt.com/2009/08/friendship-bag-tutorial.html) for the lovely and easy tutorial. On to the picture...
4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / My first completed quilt top- Over Under Quilt on: September 18, 2009 11:32:08 PM
I wanted to post a pic up of my first quilt top I just finished. I found the directions for this quilt in a book my sister loaned me called the joy of quilting. It looks difficult but was so simple to make. I gotta give my husband some props though cause he helped me pick out the colors...I have a hard time with that lol. I made it crib sized but it seems to have ended up a bit bigger than that Cheesy. I am hoping to give it to my mother-in-law she likes green and flowers. Now comes the part on how to actual quilt...hoping to take some classes in the future that explains this.

In case anyone is wondering that is my husband peeking over the top lol.

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Cute Toiletry or Accessories Bag on: September 15, 2009 07:13:47 PM
I found this awesome tutorial http://modernquiltlove.wordpress.com/2009/07/14/perfect-box-pouch-tutorial/ for how to make this cute zip up toiletry or hold whatever you want bag.

Mind you, the use I have for these bags will be completely different. My husband and all of his friends play card games that involve dice. These dice are everywhere...so I have made him and each one of his friends a very manly and Asian inspired dice bag. They are really super easy to make...I am a beginner at sewing and was able to put this together with no hassle at all!
