3  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / 3/4 inch video tape cases on: December 19, 2005 07:47:00 AM
Hey guys!  I really need your help.  DH has TONS of these from his video production business.  I need some interesting ideas of what to do with them.

You can see a pic here: (sorry I have no real pic - I'm goofing off at work right now  Grin)

Cases are hard plastic and are about 9in x 5in x 1in.

4  UNITED STATES / Virginia / Richmond DIY Trunk Show/Holiday Market on: July 31, 2005 07:34:01 AM
I am trying to guage interest in a DIY/Crafty holiday market in Richmond.  This will be a market where artist/craftspeople/DIY types can sell there wears - and since it's the holidays, hopefully folks will be buying!  I'm thinking similar to the Rock & Shop Market in Raliegh www.rockandshopmarket.com or the DIY Trunk Show in Chicago www.diytrunkshow.com.  For those who know, I will be contacting Anna V. from the Bizarre Market to see what her plans are (as to NOT step on any toes) and maybe see if we can coordinate events.

So I need to know:

1. would you come to purchase unique, one-of-a-kind gifts for the holidays?

2. if you are an artist, would you sign up to vend?  if so, what would be the max you would be willing to pay as an fee? (keep in mind, it would be inside, and there would be cost to cover (space rental, tables, advertising, etc.)

3. based on the people you know, do you think Richmond would support this?

If you know of something already like this, please let me know.  I could just be I'm out of the loop! Grin
5  UNITED STATES / Virginia / Richmond 2005 on: January 25, 2005 05:22:06 PM
Hey guys!

It's great to see others from the area!  I was purusing this thread, and noticed some cool shows from 2004 (Made in VA, Ladyfest).   Does anyone have a heads up on what's jumping off this year?  I know the 1st Bizarre Market (Chop Suey Books) is in March, but unsure of the date; and the 17th Street Farmer's Market starts in April.

Where else are the indie crafters at??!!??
6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / When do you start preping for the next season? on: January 15, 2005 05:41:24 PM
Hi guys!

For those of you who make and sell your items that may change with the seasons (handbags, clothing, jewelry, etc.) - when so you start preparing/making items for the next season?  I'm trying to figure out when to stop producing with winter fabrics and break out the spring/summer fabrics for handbags.  Do you stay on the retail "schedule" which will have spring/summer merchandise up in February?  Do you shoot for March, April?

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.
