2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My new wrap skirt out of a old shirt on: November 23, 2011 04:29:53 PM
I had this shirt my mom bought me a while ago and it does not fit well at all anymore, but I just couldn't get rid of it. So, why not make a skirt out of it! I actually like this shirt better as a skirt than a shirt. The picture is taken in the mirror therefore the words are backwords. It's still not finished because I need the tie so for now I'm using a safety pin.

3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Four Seasons Tree Quilt on: May 24, 2011 05:46:19 PM
Over a year ago I had the idea to do this quilt and it took me a good 6 months before I even started on it. I worked on it on and off and it's finally done!!! It was so great to finally craft for myself, and what an amazing feeling to see it for real rather than in my head. This is my first actual quilt, I've done two others that I called quilts, but technically were not quilted, so I guess they would be considered just blankets  Cheesy.

I would love to know what everyone thinks about it.

Elm, oak, willow, orange do you obsess over trees?

If you love trees or have always been drawn to them, this is the perfect swap for you.  Trees have been an intrinsic part of many cultures, from the giving of an olive branch in ancient Greece to the symbolism of the tree of life.  Anything goes in this swap as long as it is tree-inspired.

Take inspiration from their branches, leaves, colors, fond childhood memories of climbing them whatever.  We all know we love them, now lets craft in their name.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Specifics and rules:
You must craft FIVE points worth of items for this swap.  According to the swap guidelines here on Craftster:

LARGE item (equivalent to 3 or more crafting hours or $30 or more) = 3 points
MEDIUM item (equivalent to 2 or more crafting hours or $10-$30) = 2 points
SMALL item (equivalent to 2 or less crafting hours or $10 or less) = 1 point

This means you have options!  You can craft 1 large and 1 medium, or 1 large and 2 smalls, or 1 medium and 3 smalls.  No more than 3 of your 5 points may be small items.

If you and your partner agree to craft more than the required number of points, that is fine.  Just make sure it is agreed upon between the two of you!  It is always a fantastic idea to have good communication with your partner!

Likewise, you MUST have good communication in this swap.  5 weeks of crafting time is a lot of time for swappers to get "lost."  PLEASE remember to post in the thread or message your organizer roughly once a week.  If you do not show good communication, it will be noted in your feedback.

This swap, like most swaps on Craftster, requires a Delivery Confirmation number. You must PM the delivery confirmation number to both your partner and your organizer once you ship. If you and your partner are sending internationally I'm requiring a copy of the reciept to be Pm'd to both your partner and your organizer as proof of shipping.

You are more than welcome to ship early if you've finished early!

Partners will be assigned and posted the afternoon(PST) of Thursday, May 12.  I will post them in the second post of this thread and then PM everyone with their questionnaire and their partner's questionnaire.

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Tree Swap??? on: April 06, 2011 07:51:38 PM

Would anyone be interested to do a tree swap? This would be perfect if you're obsessed with trees like I am, no matter if you like elm's, oak's, pine trees, or even dead trees or leaves.

I found one from a couple years ago. Make sure to check out the amazing gallery. There's tons of great stuff.

The previous rounds were 5 points and I would probably keep it similar to that.

Any thoughts, comments, interest?
7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Cox astronaut on: October 28, 2010 06:30:10 PM
My husband wanted a "Cox Dude" really bad (from Cox Communications cable). But, after calling some people, he got no where and they don't sell any so he wanted me to make one for him. I was able to make it my own and it didn't need to look exactly like it. I did my best and he loved it, so that's all that matters. I personally think he came out a little like a voo doo doll Smiley

8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Pelican Quilt on: October 28, 2010 06:24:33 PM
This is only my second quilt. I get bored thinking about a typical quilt, so I try to do something different. I wanted to do something for my mom for Christmas and really wanted to do something pelicans since she's loved them since she was a little kid. But, I noticed pelican fabric is impossible to find. So, I decided to make my own pelican. I hope she will like it. It's really comfy Smiley

9  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 51 ENTRIES / American Idol dance mat turned into useful laptop bag on: June 02, 2010 08:52:13 PM
I was excited to hear about this challenge. I really needed a laptop bag I can bring to the airport and this was the perfect opportunity to make it. Since I love all my games, I couldn't bring myself to tear up any of mine, so I made a trip to the goodwill store. I found a American Idol dance pad (my husband asked why a singing show would have a dance mat and I didn't think of it at first, but it's a really good point). Anyways, it worked well for my bag. I cut out the wires and used the vinyl and padding. I hand stitched all of it and really didn't feel comfortable that it would hold. So, I had to bring out the duct tape and it matches well Smiley I hope the pictures are alright, I always forget I have to crop them so much in order to upload to this site. I also always forget to take pictures in the middle of the process since I'm just to into it to think of it.

Here's what it was:

And now my spiff bag:

10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Altered wedding book on: May 05, 2010 06:37:32 PM
My cousin is getting married and I wanted to craft something along with buy her something for her wedding shower. I came across this tutorial (which is a little hard to understand so I made some of it up along the way)

http://www.craftbits.com/project/altered-antique-book

So, here's my book. On the side you can barely see, it's a wedding poem.
