1  Re: I <3 Coffee/Tea swap, round 3 in The Swap Gallery by sarahdotcom on: October 18, 2006 10:23:13 AM
And here they are!

That's what the box looked like!  So big and I loved peeling back the brown paper to reveal what was inside!

And here are the contents!  Everything is great... I love the colours of the notebook, I have already used the facecloth (perfect for going away in the weekend!), the cards are so cute I don't think I can ever use them!  The little tea bag man is adorable.  There's so much tea in there I can't wait to try, and chocolate!!  Although I cracked up at that Kahlua bar - it says "solid milk chocolate" on it, but unfortunately the day I picked up the parcel it was about 28 degrees, so the chocolate wasn't very solid at all!  Hurrah for Spring Smiley

Thanks rockstr009, it's such an incredible package and well worth the wait!

2  Knitting Olympics anyone? We need a Team Kiwi! in NEW ZEALAND by sarahdotcom on: January 22, 2006 10:24:31 AM
If you've been living under a rock, you might not have heard about the Yarn Harlot's Knitting Olympics.  Read about it here:

http://www.yarnharlot.ca/blog/archives/2006/01/14/citius_altius_fortius.html

Anyway, we definitely need to get a NZ team going!  So who's keen?  Come over to my blog (link below) if you want to join in, and I'll keep track of who's making what, etc.

Also, if you're going to join in, grab yourself one of these: (saving to your own image host please)

3  Re: Butterfly a-long (Rowan 37) in Knitalongs by sarahdotcom on: January 05, 2006 01:01:14 AM
Looks wonderful, juniper!  There are a few little issues with mine and my photo looks bad unfortunately (freak hailstorm had me using the flash), but here's my progress so far:

I'm doing it in the round, it's working out ok, like the rest of you I'm sort of fudging the edges to make sure I have the right amount of stitches in each row.  I'm up to the first decreases now.

4  Strawberry lace scarf and wrap jacket in Knitting: Completed Projects by sarahdotcom on: June 17, 2005 01:34:24 PM
here are some of my latest FOs:

I'm terrible at taking pictures of myself so sorry this doesn't show the jacket all that well.  It's from Patons Resort Knits (Aus/NZ Patons) and knit from Zhivago, which is 50/50 tencel/acrylic.  It's actually a really great yarn, very silky and smooth.

Second up there's my strawberry lace patterned scarf:

Close up of stitch detail:

It's from one of the Cleckheaton Studio Mohair books.  Instead of the studio mohair, I used Touch mohair/merino (www.touchyarns.com) which is one of the most heavenly yarns you can imagine and has left me wondering why everyone always says mohair is itchy.  The best part - one 100g skein was enough for the whole scarf.  And I got it on special!

5  Re: ideas for a lace wrap/cardi/shrug, anyone ? in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by sarahdotcom on: May 03, 2005 12:26:31 AM
Patons has a couple you may like.  (Australian/NZ Patons, but I can send you the patterns if you want)

Got mine today!  Check out this haul!

I was sad because there was nothing in my mailbox today, but it turned out the postman left it up the drive for me Smiley

8  Re: NZ-AUSTRALIA SWAP Pictures in The Swap Gallery by sarahdotcom on: December 20, 2004 11:37:52 AM

This is the book that jan_on_ice sent me - isn't it incredible?  I'd love to know how you made it, Janice, but I don't know if I'd have the patience to do it myself!

And this is a brilliant idea - she made me a sheet of stickers that I can use to decorate the book!

It's almost too lovely to use, but on the other hand it is made to be used, so I will try!  I usually have a book to write down all my crafty ideas in, and I have run out of room in my old one so this came just in time Smiley

9  Re: Deuces Wild Flower Pin Swap Numero Dos Pics in The Swap Gallery by sarahdotcom on: December 17, 2004 06:02:00 PM

That's the one I sent to jessicakes.  I shouldn't have used the carpet as a background because it's the same colour as the pin!  But you get the idea.  It's two layers, knitted and hand felted, with pearl beads sewn to the centre.

10  Re: Craftalong Un-swap part 2: embroidery in The Swap Gallery by sarahdotcom on: December 12, 2004 10:27:45 PM

That's the wee pouch I made - the mermaid is a transfer, with sequins and beads sewn on.  That counts as embroidery, right?  I made it for jan_on_ice for the NZ-Australia swap Smiley
