1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Lost a link on: October 09, 2005 09:21:57 PM
A while back I was looking around and found a scarf someone had made that was a long scarf with a lot of flowers on it at the ends. I thought it was knitted but it could have been crocheted I guess. It was a knockoff from a scarf that she had seen in a store. I've searched and can't find it. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Drop stitch in a bias knit on: March 21, 2005 10:36:11 AM
Okay, clarification first....I want to make a scarf, knit on the bias, with a drop stitch. I don't mean like clapotis (sp?) but a drop stitch like K1, wrap yarn around, K1, then on the next row drop the extra loop. What's mixing me up is the bias row...K1, Inc 1, K to last three, K2 tog, K1. So, I knit one row, do the bias row, knit one row with the extra wrap, try to do the bias row, dropping the extra wrap but the decrease at the end is weird.

So, is that all as clear as muddy water?Huh If anyone can decipher and help I'd appreciate it! Or better, point me to a picture or pattern. I don't even know if this will work!

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitting humor.... on: March 19, 2005 11:51:56 AM
A policeman spots a woman driving and knitting at the same time.
Driving up beside her, he shouts out the window "Pull over!"
"No," she shouts back,"Pair of socks!"

Tee hee! Have a good day!  Grin
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Step by Step Ladder on: February 23, 2005 08:15:08 PM
I'm having trouble understanding a ladder or horizontal drop stitch. I'm looking at a pattern on the LionBrand site: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/kms-tankTop2.html

If I understand the pattern correctly the entire thing is knit in stockinette stitch and then the stitches are dropped when you are ready to bind off.

I don't quite understand the binding off, either, but think maybe I can figure it out.

Can anyone help clarify?

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Row Row Row the Gauge on: February 18, 2005 01:29:36 PM
Well, I can usually get pretty close to gauge on things but some of this novelty yarn is giving me fits. I have to go up a size or two to get the width gauge and that makes the row gauge off. Question is, is the row gauge that important or can I just use measurments? I wouldn't think it would matter but wanted to see what y'all think.

P.S. It's a sweater. Example: The pattern said K 18 rows--two inches. I'm only on row 8 and it's already 2 inches.
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Pink Lemonade Jacket on: January 25, 2005 06:46:19 PM
I have a light pink boiled wool jacket that I really really like. Well, sometime, somewhere it got hung up in the wrong place and there is a faded stripe down one arm. It's kind of yellowish. And very noticable. I was wondering if I can use Kool-aid--in maybe pink lemonade to dye the jacket. If I get wool wet even in cool water will it turn into a jacket for my teddy bear? Please advise! Huh
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Trendsetter Checkmate on: January 11, 2005 02:06:52 PM
I splurged today and got one skein of Trendsetter Checkmate yarn. It's a ribbon yarn that is solid ribbon for a bit then a checkerboard ribbon for a bit. The checkerboard has holes for the checkerboard--if that makes sense. Anyway, I'm going to make (surprise!) a scarf to see how I like it. I think I'll do a drop stitch to show the yarn better.

I don't usually get to look at yarn stores, first, because I live in the boonies and didn't know there was one close, and second, I'm always at work when this one I found is open and third, I'm a cheapie at heart and I don't want to invest a lot without really having an idea of what to make.

So, finally, to the question: Has anyone used this yarn for anything? Any better ideas for a scarf besides the drop stitch idea? Any better ideas besides a scarf? I'm open!

Thanks!
