1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: A Welder for Christmas?!?! on: December 23, 2010 02:35:35 PM
Thanks for the tip! But I had to break down and just ask him which one he wanted.. Shocked/ Not much of a surprise but he loved it the same.
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / A Welder for Christmas?!?! on: November 09, 2010 01:07:34 PM
My DH finally told me what he wanted for Christmas.. A Welder! I had to turn my head away so he couldn't see the excitement on my face.. all these craft ideas and projects started flying through my head!! I couldn't believe my hubby asked for a present that I would love to have and will probably use more than him.

So, I started looking at the stores... and I quickly realized that I was in over my head. MIG, TIG, Spot, Arc welders..... so many to choose from?!? Which one do I choose???

Well, my question is Which one do I buy that will work for my husband (who has only welded a few times and will be using it for odds and ends) and for me. I will love to be able to use it to make jewelry and maybe some yard decorations.

Please help.. Thank you!!
3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Baby Fish Costume on: November 02, 2010 12:32:16 PM
This is a ridiculously adorable costume. You did a great job on it.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you love it as much as I do! I just hope when he gets older he doesn't say "Really Mom?" lol

This is my little boys first Halloween, and since he is only a month old I really couldn't find a costume I liked for him that fit so I made this one for him. He is a little fish and my husband dressed up like a fisherman!

I took a onesie and sewed on the fish scales and then added some scrap fabric around his sleeves for his fins.  The fish head hat was a last minute thing. But I think it turned out ok. I took a hat that was laying around and covered it with fabric and put some felt eyes and a mouth on there.

He was trying to swim I think! He loved trying to eat his fins.. lol
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: 2010 What is everyone planning to make for Christmas? on: October 28, 2010 08:06:07 AM

Does anyone have any ideas what is a good mix to give as gifts that I can make all at once and is cheap? I remember my mom making spiced tea around this time of year with tang and instant tea.. but I'm not sure everyone will like that.. Any ideas will be much appreciated! Thanks!

Roxsun, how about cappuccino mix?  I don't have a good recipe but I doubt it would be hard to find one on here or elsewhere.  You could give people both tea mix and cappuccino mix, and it seems like most people would like at least one or the other!

That's a wonderful idea! I wonder if there is a coffee mix I could make too, so it could be like a little drink mix basket thingie! I'm so excited! Thank you for the wonderful idea!! I'm off searching for some yummy drink recipes! Shocked)

Thanks everyone for these great ideas! I'm trying to compose a list now. I was thinking about making some kind of snack mix, drink mix or something along those lines to give out to everyone but I don't have a clue what to make. What is instant tea?

I think that is what my mother told me when I was younger. I'm not sure, but I am guessing it is like instant coffee.. I haven't made the spiced tea combo. I just remember her making it. I will try and look around on the internet and in some cook books to see if I find the recipe.

8  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: HELP! on: August 05, 2010 03:42:38 AM
I would use some of the fabric for the backing of a shadow box and put his ribbions, patches and metals on it. That's what I'm going to do with my husbands cammies and mine.
