22  Steampunk Altered Puzzle in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by yzzilnoaj on: May 30, 2011 04:22:23 PM
I made this for my partner in a the dollar store swap.  I couldn't wait to share until after the swap was complete so hopefully she wouldn't see this  Wink

Anyways, she is into steampunk and I am obsessed with altering puzzles so it was natural for me to find a puzzle in the dollar store and jazz it up.  I got super lucky and found a wooden 12 piece puzzle at the AWESOME dollar store by my house.  Needless to say I bought them out  Smiley

A few of my favorites

The rest...

23  Re: Jar of Whimsies Round 9 Gallery! in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by yzzilnoaj on: May 19, 2011 04:08:20 PM
I received the MOST amazing package from smmarrt today.  I have been spoiled in past swaps but hands down I have never been this spoiled!  I opened a package that seemed to go on and on!  I am sorry about the number of pictures but there is no other way to show all of it.

This is the great jar she decorated

The whimsies found in the jar

These are my favorite!

She sent a puzzle for an altered puzzle craft and she started it for me...so excited!

She made these out of paper bags and coffee cozies

Now for the extras...can you believe there is more? I love it all!!!!!!!

She sent all of these awesome pieces paper that she painted in different ways.

I really love my package!  Thank you so much smmarrt you are an AWESOME partner!

24  Re: Frugal Living 4: Frugal is the NEW BLACK! Gallery in The Swap Gallery by yzzilnoaj on: May 16, 2011 12:45:02 PM
I received a wonderful package from Zephyr (pictures do not do it justice).  She sent me a rice pack made from an old pillow, two books on being green, some seeds for me to grow my own veggies, a reusable mug that she decorated, a great butterfly window charm for my treasure window (LOVE this) that she made from an old pair of earrings, cards that she made with stash items, some re-usable scrubbies (not in picture due to being used) and my favorite a "Wreck this Journal" journal.

THe wonderful charm

And a page from the journal

Some of the other pages say things like write backwards on this page, collects fruit stamps here, attach least favorite pictures of self and deface, pretend this page is a sign what would it say...there are lots of fun pages.  I plan to make a few of these bad boys for Christmas presents.

Thank you so much for my wonderful package!

25  Steampunk Mail/key holder in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by yzzilnoaj on: May 13, 2011 02:26:42 PM
So I made this mail/key holder for the recycle/reuse craft swap I just finished.  The holder itself is made from an old cigar box I found and everything else is from my stash. I didn't even know steampunk existed before this swap and now I am having the time of my life making things.

This is not the best picture but you can get the idea. For some reason the black "leather" (duct tape) looks bunchy but it isn't in real life.

26  Earth Mobile in CHALLENGE 62 ENTRIES by yzzilnoaj on: May 04, 2011 03:48:31 PM
As soon as I saw this month's challenge (or rather April's) I decided to make a mobile.  I started by googling earth mobiles and to my surprise nothing came up...a first for me.  So I settled in and thought about what celebrating earth day is really about to me and I decided on love.  We must respect and love the earth and each other.

I decided that everything used for the project had to be stash items or free.  I have way too much felt so it seemed the best choice.  Trying to get felt to lay flat on a round surface is not easy...at least not for me and then to add glittering to the mix...it was almost too much for me.  I reworked the earth part of this project a few times.  Embarrassed  Then came the people.  I had a lot of fun with all the different colors and since I went with love as a sort of theme I decided each person needed a heart. As it is all about earth day I decided to used a branch from my back yard at the mobile mechanism.

What I did not take into consideration when making this project was the difficulty of trying to capture it with a camera.

My continents are not perfect but I did really try to get the general shape.

Getting all the people to be at the same length was difficult because the branch I used was not even at all.

27  Self Portrait Altered Puzzle in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by yzzilnoaj on: April 10, 2011 11:45:31 AM
SO I decided to take the altered puzzle idea and turn it into a self portrait of sorts since I can't paint or draw.  I found a 24 piece puzzle and sat down to think of 24 words that I thoughts best describe who I am.  I work on the list for a couple of weeks because I really wanted to be honest about all the good and bad things that make up who I am.  Once I came up with my list I prepared my puzzle pieces and threw them all into a bag.  One by one I randomly pick a piece for each of the words and tried to express the chosen word through little pieces of art.  I did not assemble any of the puzzle until I was done...here is the final product.

29  Re: Recycling/Eco-Friendly/Gardening/Hippie Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by yzzilnoaj on: April 06, 2011 01:51:10 PM
I love those tops too!

I received the most awesome package from leighi123 today...a little late but well worth it.  I know she received my package last week and because her family has been sick she hasn't gotten a chance to post pictures so I thought I would do it for her.

I sent a net full of sea treasures for her son which included 3 felt fish and shells I collected from many different place. I also sent a box that I covered in newspaper yarn, a recycled paper picture, tins I added chalkboard labels to, hippie buttons and iron on transfers for a tee-shirt.

And the net of sea treasures

NOW on to the good stuff....

Here is all the wonderfulness I received: A awesome lunch bag, 3 snack bags (made from recycled materials), a utensil tool with a napkin, what I assume is lip gloss, another bag which might be a smaller lunch bag, coasters and an amazing material bowl.

Here is the bowl up close
