1  A couple of new dresses: Dragon and Butterfly (pic heavy) in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by TeenyBunny on: December 10, 2012 11:18:42 PM
I haven't shared here in a while, but I was really excited by how these turned out! First is a dragon dress:

I sketched out a bunch of dragons until I came up with one I liked:

I originally planned to just do a band of blue at the bottom, but I had this scrap of fabric from when I cut out the dragon and it was a sort of swirly wave shape. When I laid it on the bottom of the dress, it was like a lightbulb went off! I decided to make a whole wave applique all the way around the hem.

I've also been wanting to do a realistic butterfly applique forever. This is what I came up with:
Here are the separate pieces I made

Layered together:

Then I lightly drew in detail lines with chalk and sewed it with black thread:

And here it is all together with the dress I made:

Thanks for looking!

2  1930's inspired outfit in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by TeenyBunny on: August 21, 2011 04:36:31 PM
I've been looking around a lot at vintage dresses from the 1930s. LOVE the style. Here is my interpretation of a 1930's dress and hat (my own patterns).

The dress and hat are cotton/lycra jersey. The turquoise ties and calla lily on the top are a woven cotton print. I also used a small piece of vintage lace on the hat.

3  New dresses with 3 dimensional appliques in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by TeenyBunny on: June 16, 2011 10:43:54 AM
I saw a photograph of plum poppies on Etsy and was inspired to make a dress. I wanted to do the appliques differently this time, with a more natural, organic feel. I made the stems and leaves 3 dimensional and the flower petals are layered and then have additional stitching to make it look even more like petals. The second dress is one I had in mind for a while. I've been wanting to do the gray and aqua together and some sort of lotus and after the poppies dress, I came up with this one.

4  4th of July Dresses in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by TeenyBunny on: June 08, 2011 12:14:10 PM
I had this idea for these 4 dresses I wanted to do. I got my 2 girls, my niece, and a friend's daughter to model. All 4 were around 4 years old. That made for an interesting shoot!! Here they are (I'm probably going to take Curly  back to my mom's house and re-do her shots since I didn't get any great ones with her by the tree/bench):

Group shot

Star dresses

Anchor dress and hat set

Bias cut striped dress

Stars and stripes together

5  Twins' Easter outfits in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by TeenyBunny on: April 26, 2011 09:12:35 PM
I've been so busy with the shop, I barely had time to make my own girls dresses! They each picked out the fabrics. They have definite favorite colors right now.

Curly chose the soft yellow cotton/lycra knit fabric. I adapted my 40's dress a bit and made this rendition of it. It has a boatneck and some vintage laces on the bodice. I did two godets this time, one on each side seam. And the little hat to top it off.

Blondie found this purple bunny fabric at Joann's a few weeks ago. Her outfit is pretty much the same style I made last year. I actually made hers Easter morning! EEK!!

A rare shot of me with the girls!

6  Mr Hipster, the octopus with a 'stache in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by TeenyBunny on: January 18, 2011 04:52:01 PM
I made an octopus dress a while back and had it in my shop until I ran out of the aqua fabric I used. A friend of mine requested it in black and white....with a 'stache for the octopus.  Grin Of course now my daughter wants one. She was quite insistant that this one was hers, but she'll just have to wait until I have time to make another for her. The original octopus dress has been her favorite ever since I made it. She thinks the mustache on the black one is hilarious!

7  3 new dinosaur dresses, 2 new hats, and a bunch of custom dresses in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by TeenyBunny on: January 06, 2011 09:58:45 PM
I had a very busy December and finally had some time to design some new dresses for the girls. They are very into dinosaurs right now and were a bit disgruntled that big brother had a cool dino shirt. So I decided to make them dinosaur dresses! At first I made the two pteranodon dresses, but Curly *refused* to wear either one and *insisted* on an apatosaurus dress. Seriously, my 3 yr old had a melt down because her dress didn't have an apatosaurus. She was quite pleased when I whipped one up for her.  Grin

Here are the dinosaur dresses. I am no artist, but I managed to sketch out both of the dinosaurs myself. I designed each dress a little different.

Hats

Apatosaurus dress (has a straighter body and short, puff sleeves)

Tail wraps around to the back!

Pteranodon Dress

Blue Pteranodon dress (this was the first of the 3 I made)

These are some custom dresses I did through my shop:

This was a Daphne (Scooby Doo) dress

Long sleeved flapper dress with matching hat

And these 4 sets were upcycled from men's shirts. A very special project.

8  Christmas dress...this is as close to snowflakes as we'll get in FL! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by TeenyBunny on: November 21, 2010 09:37:58 PM
I just finished this one yesterday. It's going to be Blondie's dress for Christmas. I really wanted to add this design to my shop, but my Joann's doesn't have any more of the doilies I used!  Undecided Oh well, at least Blondie will have a nice dress.

I wanted to design something a little different than my usual dresses. I created a boatneck like on the lilac dress I did recently and also made the dress a little less a-line. I couldn't decide on the sleeves until I had made the body of the dress. I did a lot of experimenting and pinning bits of fabric to my little mannequin's arm until I found something that felt right. I kept her hat pretty simple with just a lace band.

I  put a snowflake on the back too:

Hmmmm, what will Santa bring?

9  New dress and hat in lilac and gray...could be her Thanksgiving outfit! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by TeenyBunny on: November 08, 2010 09:38:15 PM
I made the little purse first a couple weeks ago and loved the color combo so much I wanted to make a coordinating dress. I just happened to have some cotton/lycra jersey in the right shade of lilac to go with the print! Yippy! And what really got the wheels turing in my head were the 3 gray flowers. I had made them (out of eco felt) with the intention of making more purses. They were just sitting on my work table and inspiration struck! I love it when it all comes together like that!!

As always, I drafted all the patterns for this. I went with a straighter line to the dress this time, instead of an a-line. I made 3/4 length bell sleeves. I love the way they drape and move.

Anyhoo...here are the pics! I think I will dress her in this for Thanksgiving.....just have to come up with something for blondie now....

Back view:

I love this pic, though it appears she is missing an arm! EEK!

Oh the drama....

10  Boatloads of newness from me! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by TeenyBunny on: October 26, 2010 10:52:14 PM
Yeesh, I don't think I've posted anything new since early Sept! My shop had a sudden rash of orders during the last two weeks of Sept (which I'm still catching up on!). Then I found out I got a slot in a craft fair 2 weeks before the date, but didn't even get to start making stuff for it until 3 DAYS before!

Here's some of what I've made:

Little coordinating purse for the red dress:

Here's what I managed to make in 3 days for the craft fair:
