I finally finished my first project of the year!

It was relatively quick to crochet (and I was stuck in bed yesterday with a kidney infection  Embarrassed) but I finally have my first project done!

Also, although I don't post much, I am loving looking at the amazing projects everyone posts! And all the Doctor Who goodies are inspiring me to work on my own WIP scarf.  Cheesy

I finally got my packages that were held hostage by my family!
First up from abbeeroad a mug rug based on my favorite magical item the Marauder's Map!

and the back

She also sent this awesome ornament!

And from MadHatteh the cutest little Christmas tree! It has ornaments based on some of my favorite things, topped with a pygmy puff! I just couldn't get any good pics of the ornaments. MadHatteh, do you happen to have any? And there was some extra chocolates but those were quickly eaten.  Tongue

Thank you both so much for the amazing swap packages! I love everything from all three of my partners!

15  Firefly Mug Rug in Quilting: Completed Projects by misskohaku on: December 14, 2012 07:41:57 PM
I finished this project this summer but only now got around to posting the pics.  Roll Eyes

This project started with the quote, which just kind of popped into my head in that form, complete with chain stitch. And the fabrics are awesome because all of them came from my stash!

For the border I just cut the back a bit big and folded it over.
Thanks for looking!

Day 1:
Two crochet flower hair pins and a crochet headband!

Funny story: Someone pulled the fire alarm this morning (the last day of finals) and I grabbed the package before I left. Outside it was pretty windy, so as soon as I opened the package I immediately put the headband on and didn't take it off all day.

Day 2:
A set of sparkly golden snowflake ornaments! Picture MIA right now as room is slightly messy...

Day 3:
Snowflake magnets straight from my pinterest! Already on my fridge!

Day 4:
YARN! I love these colors!

Day 5:
My initial on a hoopla. My initial is made out of cork with fancy words on it!

Day 6:
A steampunk mugrug!

Day 7:
A poly clay version of the 10th Doctor's sonic screwdriver...

in pen form!

I love the glittery bits!

Day 8:
A notebook!

Day 9:
A gorgeous firefly/serenity painting!

Day 10:
A steampunk recipe box!

Day 11:
A gift certificate to my local yarn store! No pic since it's a piece of paper...

Day 12:
An awesome tardis pen holder! (Or at least that's what I'll be using it as!)

I received the most fantastic amazing package from p.kok!
An adorable Be Awesome pin

Since I'm starting to get into cooking, a notebook cover (and notebook) for recipes.

A headband that I put on as soon as I opened the package (and yes I think it's pretty Victorian)

And then the most brilliant bag I have ever seen! A Teehsa Moore and Firefly inspired bag of awesome! I was on the way to rehearsal when I got the package and once I saw the bag I just clutched it and fangirled  Grin

(I have both Jayne's pompom and the purple dinosaur, fell off in transit. I will sew them back on soonish.)
Also not pictured, some delicious Slovenian cherry chocolates!
Thank you so much p.kok, I absolutely love everything!

19  Re: Once Upon A Time Swap Gallery in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by misskohaku on: September 22, 2012 02:24:49 AM
Everyone's items are gorgeous!

I received from ShannonMN yesterday and ran back to my dorm to pick up the package before rehearsal. I crashed after rehearsal so I took some pics today.

First of all, these awesome spats.

I love these fingerless gloves! I put them on as soon as I opened the package, never mind how hot it is during the day! Luckily, it gets really cold at night, so I can wear these as I walk after rehearsal!

Action shot! I'm holding a cup of hot chocolate with whip cream, chocolate drizzle, and cinnamon (yes I tried it because of the show, but it's really good!).

ShannonMN, thank you so much for such a fabulous package!

20  My first finished embroidery, a Kaylee quote in Needlework: Completed Projects by misskohaku on: July 01, 2012 03:22:10 AM
I'm so excited to present my first finished embroidery project! I love Firefly, and Kaylee is one of my favorite characters. One day the idea of embroidering this quote onto a mug rug just popped into my head and I had to make it! I fond a pretty font in paint.net and use the program to curve the font a bit too. It's all chain stitch and luckily the photo blurs how uneven my stitches are. Tongue Despite its flaws, I love it and can't wait to finish the mug rug.

Funny story about this piece. I had only two (now three, I bought a 2" one today!) hoops, I was so excited to start that when I couldn't find the smaller one, I used the big one.

I thought I would waste a ton of fabric, but when I cut out the quote, it didn't actually waste that much, just a few inches from the edge of the cloth.

And here's what the original quote was going to look like. I think my stitching is as messy as my handwriting.  Cheesy

Thank you so much for looking. And one small question. I noticed that when I do curves, the chain stitches don't usually lie flat, they go with the curve and expose the place where the thread comes up to form the next stitch. Could the size of my stitches be the problem, or something else? I hope that made sense, I should probably be sleeping.  Roll Eyes
