5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Hand sew a flower stem onto material. on: June 14, 2010 08:47:42 AM
I bet you all think I am daft lol
I have been trying to sew a nice stem onto fabric & then finish it off with a flower out of ribbon. The problem is..... Each time I tried it, the stem looked horrible. I want it to flow & look natural.
Any tips at all pleaseee.
6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Treading Bobbing on Janome 4623 on: April 07, 2010 06:35:07 AM
Hi & thanks for reading. I have just got my first ever sewing machine. I thought it would be easy lol
I have managed to get the tread onto the bobbing with no trouble at all & then I threaded the machine. The problem I am having is getting the bobbing tread to hook up with the needle?
It is a top loading bobbing & I have put the bobbing holder counter clockwise as it as said. Then I guide the tread into the notch A & slide it between the tension springs & it says to draw the tread lightly until the tread slips into notch B. Then to pull out about 15cm of tread & attach hook cover.
For some reason the tread doesn't click into notch B, if it is meant to click? There is a slight little dent so I thought that is where it is meant to be. But then where does the rest of the cotton (the 15cm) meant to go?
I did leave the tread outside the machine, but of cause didn't work & then tried with pushing the tread inside & that didn't work lol.  I really need help  Huh
I know this might sound so daft to you all, but this is the very first time I have ever used a sewing machine. I know when one of you tell me what I am supposed to do, I will fee sure a fool for not realizing how simple it is.
Thank you SO much for any help anyone can give me  Wink
7  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Discussion and Questions / Upload your own designs on to a machine? on: September 25, 2009 06:06:04 AM
Is there a sewing machine that you can do your own embroidery designs on, without having just to use the designs that come with the machine.
I would love to use my own designs & be able to load them from my computer on to a machine.
Thank you....  Grin

9  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Hello everyone. New to sewing & need advice. on: September 02, 2009 07:33:10 AM
Hello I am new to sewing. I have always wanted to make all kinds of cushion covers, pillows, teddy bears & bags. small things really. I do not know anything at all about sewing machines, the needles, the bobbins, anything really lol So as I said I am completely new to all of it  Grin   But I looking forward to learning.
I have read gamergirl thread about machines & I have made notes of the machines. Like gamergirl I haven't got loads of cash, so anything up to 300 will be good for me. The thing is, I want to do embroidery on the pillows & the cushions. So if any one can advice me on a good machine which does embroidery as well would be great. I might have to wait a few weeks to save more cash if 300 is not enough for a machine that does embroidery as well!
Just any ideas at all to get me started looking in the right direction would be great.
Many thanks to you in advance.
Looking forward to meeting everyone here as well  Grin
