Ie shut on me so this is my second try. The hat came out too small  and you can tell in one of the pictures where its not even on the top of my head lol. that will teach me for not measuring! One of my daughters will be happy though~!

I embroidered each side piece with a brain outline, lined each side, inserted straps , pinked the edges and then punched holes along the upper edges through all the layers and looped fleece strips through them.

Please excuse my appearance. I was so delighted to be the only "model" awake that i had to make  a dumb face( on purpose)

I bought this onesie for my newborn nephew Shade.. it glows in the dark and it screams Aunt Toni.
That is the only thing in this set that i didn't make.

I think the set came out cute, especially for my first pair of baby pants , booties, and first bibs ever!

I have a new nephew... so i made him a hat from Aunt Toni

This is my first try, sorry for the crap pics. This was made out of scraps i had laying around. I took a plain hat shape( think big "U") and made triangular pup up shapes on a strip of fleece. My original thought was mohawk , i didn't really  put it up there in the seam far enough. fear of failure on that part i guess? so i think it came out a bit more dinosaur-ish than i had hoped but its cute none the less!!!

I basted the fleece on one side of the hat, then  added the other side, and serged it all together. It's so soft and stretchy.. its awwweeesssome.. I hope my brother and  his wife like it! I plan to make a few of these but i wanted to post these pictures( can you believe with 3 daughters there are no big teddy bears or baby dolls to even model this onto?) Which are unflattering because i have nothing small enough and round enough to look like a head hahaha i used socks and a shoe rack..and it didnt come out well at all. these pictures were taken after i tried that , and i didnt flatten it out
 

  more on my blog about my strange train of thoughts.. its made out of a kids worse for wear tank top, some white fabric squares my dad brought home from work, webbing, scrap fabric that i thought resembled speaker covers on a boombox...and a little interfacing. The deco stitch didn't quite work out but.. meh. laziness. It is serged so it wont rip out but its not fully interfaced for heavy use and it has no closure as for now.
 ::)I am way lazy. I did this months ago and have come to realise i have crappy follow through with projects that are for me.

I was obsessed with triangle bubbles at the time.. dunno why

I never used the belt or zipper... the lazy zombo ate me

Awww.. babies.. how wonderful... They named him Shade, which is.. um .. different. I just think maybe he will get picked on later, but hey its not my kid... at least its.. ehh.. unique?

So, onto the project.

I took a wal-mart $4 towel and ONE washcloth from a $3 pack of 9 washcloths( i needed some anyways) and some quilt binding.. cut the ends off the towel while i embroidered the name and Oscar the grouch on the washcloth. When that was done, i hooped the towel( hard) and ended up starting the Oscar -in-the-can design on what ended up being the outside BACK bottom of the towel. I found a "Handmade for my special little boy" tag in a box of craft stuff from an auction, so i zigged that on also.



 I then patched in an extra piece of towel to sew in on the inside so it doesn't scratch the baby... sewed quilt binding across the folded edge of the washcloth( again i did this so nothing is scratchy on the kiddo), and then placed the washcloth at the top right corner and pinned.


Then i just attached the quilt binding all the way around, mitering the corners and  then done!!









Me ashamed of having a kid towel on my head, dont mind the bits of towel everywhere!

Lately Ive been having swelling problems and this was just practice. although i must say they don't look awful on the shoes without the fat girl in them.... on me.. they look funny but I'm water logged or something and its been kinda painful.

Anyhoooo.. faux buttons, slip on( with no elastic as of right now.. these might have some ruching in their future also.and the shape is off too. turquoise lace peeking out.. that is pretty rad imho. and of course.. hounds tooth knit.. and i tried stuffing the shoes to make them stand up the best i could.

I call it good for practice? What do you think?

I made this last year and never got proper pictures..again with the camera lens spots!! ARGH!! oh well..LOL. My mom gave me a king sized down feather bed/comforter.. and a nasty plaid ripped duvet cover. after dealing with that for a few months and absolutely falling in Love with a feather bed.. and know ill never go back..I bought two king sized bed sheets , a long zipper. basically i made a zip pouch .. but before that, i cut up fabric to jazz it up a little... again with the kitsch! it was fun and i thought it would tell the dogs not to get on my bed.. well fat chance of that.. their butt smell is all over this thing!

I bought two 5 shelf shelves from walmart( even they used to sell better quality furniture!) and i was surprised at how small the box was. the full length pieces were half the size and had to be stacked on top of each other, which made th whole structure inferior.I have to re fix, rescrew this shelf many time, restaple the backing even to make it last longer. I have had it about 6 months.. i gave up!


Instead of going and buying more inferior furniture, i bought pine boards from lowes. I think i spent $25 and figured that this would make two entirely new shelves that would last a lot longer. I am reusing the shelves from the existing shelf. They are pressboard but ill use them until they die! LOL

I took 2 6" wide boards braced them together with 2x boards and screwed them all together, then attached the pressboard shelves, one at bottom and one at top and then two in the middle. I screwed those in place also for added stability. I then painted all the pine black. Please excuse the crappy paneling and carpet.. i need to vacuum!!!

This didn't turn out as well as i had hoped.. Long story.. my laminator broke down ( or so i thought) so i had to go buy a brand new one for $30 at walmart.. that wouldn't work.. both turned on .. neither would scroll the projects thru.. well it was the plug( on a dimmer)! DUH! anyways.. then i finally started to laminate and it ATE one of the pouches( look closely you can see ripples) which in turn messed up the fluidity of my sewing..


ANYWAYS.. i found a cute sailorette from tattoo flash, added some words and stars, printed them out ( one reversed for the opposite sides) laminated them, sandwiched them and sewed. i left the back higher so i can grasp the scissors easily to retrieve them... no more getting poked by surprise scissors!!! I am sure i will make more, but my first attempt is pretty neat-o imo!
