1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: New dresses on: September 21, 2009 10:06:09 AM
They look fantastic. I hadn't realised they were green and purple until you mentioned, on my computer they look a grey colour, however even in grey they look great!!

Is this your own pattern?
Is it a full circle skirt?

I have to admit I've never tried stitching stretch, not because I'm afraid of trying but because it's not the easiest thing to buy here. There seem to be lots of patterns for stretch fabrics around though, and pictured in great fabrics, the only ones I see for sale are the most horrible fabrics I have ever seen, not even fit for pyjamas! I think I should move to the US, you obviously have more choice over there!! Although dying might be a good option!

Did the dresses take the dye well?

had a go... at this my first patternless piece of clothing... actually no my second the first was an unmitigated disaster!

doesn't quite hang as well as it could... had a few problems with the straps and a severe lack of elastic!!

but my daughter loves it and even wanted to wear it to bed!!!

the folded fans with the side collar is an amazingly good idea, think you should make it up
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: A long overdue dress and skirt (velvety ric-racety goodness) on: September 02, 2009 01:13:00 PM
the edging on the skirt is very striking, I like it, I think it might look more beautiful with a plain top in the orange or yellow

$1 really??
I know I live in the wrong country now... not sure I could get anything for 1 here!!!
Looks fab, I want one!!
Definitely have been out of the dressmaking loop for far too long, 2 items in the last 10 years!!!
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Regency dress (shit, this whiteness makes me feel like I'm about to get married) on: September 02, 2009 12:53:46 PM
It is beautiful... I'd wear it but one my husband would object and two I'm not sure I would be brave enough to wear it out of the house, not because it is ugly(which it clearly isn't) but because it's so unusual in the sense of being a period dress!! you all know what I mean!!

pink version is gorgeous... think that will be at the top of my to make list... once I've made a present for a little girl's birthday and figured out how to make this skirt I'm working on.
thanks for the ideas
