2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Any Suggestions or Hints? on: February 02, 2009 12:17:07 PM
Hey All.. I am doing my first ever counted cross stitch as a present for my sister as a bday present.  I think I'm going blind with it.  Any suggestions to make things easier?  So far i've only had to fix one thing but admittedly i'm a wee bit nervous about the whole thing. It's not a big piece but lots of colour changes..  Thank you ahead of time for any help you can kick my way.. cheers..
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Thrift Store Crafters!! on: February 01, 2009 02:03:37 AM
I love thrift stores. Admittedly, prolly a little too much. My best gf & i say it's all about the hunt for us. Today, i found an embroidery kit(unopened) with a saying about sisters($2), a rug hooking kit (also unopened)for my youngest ($4), a brand new white ink pad(.49) and a container of scrapbooking glitter(.49).  Now i am curious if we have any other thrift store crafters in here?
I am always finding yarn & material. I know some ppl  buy the supplies with great intentions and don't get around to it.  The one bad side of this is i am finding so many good buys that i'm running out of storage space.. i need to do a huge stash bust!! Grin
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Valentine's Day Gifts? Is this unusual? on: January 30, 2009 03:19:45 AM
A friend the other day was a little surprised(stunned) that i give my daughters' presents for Valentine's Day.  It's always a little something usually homemade or dollar store items.  I also do halloween presents for them.. since that is our favourite time of the year. They do little things for their dad & me as well.  I didn't think it was a strange thing to do but i have to admit that i am now wondering if it's time to end this little tradition since my babies aren't little anymore. They are 19 & 13.  What do you all think? Is it time for this mummy to stop?  Undecided

7  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / 2008's Crafty Spooky Addition on: September 20, 2008 01:29:41 AM
Every year, my family creates something new for our halloween display. The #1 rule is it can't be cutesy.  So we hunt around for something creepy to create.  Husband is a total freak on this holiday!! Tomorrow we are starting giant paper mache mutant pumpkins... we found them on a haunt site.. they are fabulous!! Wish us luck... apparently we will be making at least 10 of these.. Roll Eyes

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Baby Sweaters!! on: April 17, 2007 03:18:32 AM
lately, I've been swamped with babies Undecided.. in one week, 3 babies & another one on the way. I have to admit I'm an impatient knitter or i just get bored super fast. So, i found what has to be the easiest baby sweater known to knitters. The 5 rectangle baby sweater. Apparently, it was on Carol Duval. OMG.. quick easy and you can fiddle with it to make it your own. I lucked by finding a huge bag of softie baby in white at some store for $5 so now i am whipping these things up. http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/cr_needlework_knitting/article/0,1789,HGTV_3263_3298694,00.html
9  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / So I Gave It a Go!! on: April 17, 2007 02:23:06 AM
well, i took advantage of the fabulous sale at Michael's on t-shirts this week and bought the family all the tee's that they could possibly need. Only one problem, they all wanted black ones.
As they are all a bit on the odd side (i'm the mommy i can say that Grin), i finally did some stencilling. Nothing too out there for my first time, skulls & crossbones & the word beware.  Unfortunately, my camera is having a temper tantrum so i can't take pics.  I put the stencilling on the back about halfway down and i do have to say they look rather fabulous. At least the teens in this house say they will wear them.. a good sign Grin
10  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Crochet Beanies on: September 27, 2005 10:27:54 PM
I'm not the most proficient crocheter out there but when one of my closest friends starting losing her hair.. i started making her a collection for her to wear everyday to work.. here's the first couple i've done!!
