2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Re: For the Teachers!! on: February 14, 2009 01:54:05 AM
Actually not sure where that little gif originally came from.. a friend sent it to me the other day .. i believe it is a part of commercially made card he gave his wife..
I think teachers in middle & high school tend to be forgotten not like in elementary.. my daughter loves her teachers so she wanted to make them something.. melt & pour base was something we had handy so we were off to the races..
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: Two Kids Parties in only One week! Please help! on: February 13, 2009 03:09:28 AM
A little bit of work for you that is for sure.. sounds like you have the girl's party quite in hand but for the 13 year old boy..... i would suggest video games..it seems most boys love them.. pokemon has quite a few out there(rent them).. so you could turn it into a tournament for the winner..for prizes, pokemon cards, badges or t-shirts.. most of that can be found at a comic book store...another easy idea would be to do a pokemon ball for the cake..
there are a lot of party sites on the net so you could always do a search for pokemon party ideas..
good luck!
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / For the Teachers!! on: February 13, 2009 12:44:08 AM
Apparently in Grade 8, you don't give Valentine's out anymore.. (duh mum Tongue).. but we made presents for the teachers.. the other nite we made heart shaped soap with a raspberry cream scent & crocheted face clothes.. put in a pretty little valentine's bag.. super easy &  a lot of fun.. happy valentine's day!! Kiss

6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Any Suggestions or Hints? on: February 02, 2009 12:17:07 PM
Hey All.. I am doing my first ever counted cross stitch as a present for my sister as a bday present.  I think I'm going blind with it.  Any suggestions to make things easier?  So far i've only had to fix one thing but admittedly i'm a wee bit nervous about the whole thing. It's not a big piece but lots of colour changes..  Thank you ahead of time for any help you can kick my way.. cheers..
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Thrift Store Crafters!! on: February 01, 2009 02:03:37 AM
I love thrift stores. Admittedly, prolly a little too much. My best gf & i say it's all about the hunt for us. Today, i found an embroidery kit(unopened) with a saying about sisters($2), a rug hooking kit (also unopened)for my youngest ($4), a brand new white ink pad(.49) and a container of scrapbooking glitter(.49).  Now i am curious if we have any other thrift store crafters in here?
I am always finding yarn & material. I know some ppl  buy the supplies with great intentions and don't get around to it.  The one bad side of this is i am finding so many good buys that i'm running out of storage space.. i need to do a huge stash bust!! Grin

Well,  thank you all so much for your support on this one!!  In my heart, i knew it was a good thing.  Just having the positive reinforcement makes me know this is something to continue.  Again, thank you & a very wonderful Valentine's Day to everyone! Kiss
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Re: Etched Beer Mugs w/ IMGs. Little bit of bad language :0 on: January 30, 2009 08:24:24 AM
one thing that i know a lot of ppl use instead of masking tape is mactac... (um i'm not sure what they call it in other countries) or i think it might be called shelf  liner. but it sticks really well and there is no seepage. When i worked at michaels i always suggested that to ppl... i think this would be a great present for my brother for his bday.. thanks for the inspiration..
10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Valentine's Day Gifts? Is this unusual? on: January 30, 2009 03:19:45 AM
A friend the other day was a little surprised(stunned) that i give my daughters' presents for Valentine's Day.  It's always a little something usually homemade or dollar store items.  I also do halloween presents for them.. since that is our favourite time of the year. They do little things for their dad & me as well.  I didn't think it was a strange thing to do but i have to admit that i am now wondering if it's time to end this little tradition since my babies aren't little anymore. They are 19 & 13.  What do you all think? Is it time for this mummy to stop?  Undecided
