2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Thor Odinson on: July 30, 2014 06:55:58 PM
We have a thing for Thor around here. You know, he's so strong and mighty. My son, probably like much of the 4 yr olds, loves him as well, and it so happens that he sports blue eyes and long blond hair just like him!

I was planning making him a real life size Mjolnir for his bday this weekend, but k_michele_craftyfae took care of that. I had to find something else... And if you do not know it already, I DO love to make dolls, so I decided that a posable dollhouse Thor dolly would be the perfect thing for my son.

He has a wire skeleton wrapped in clean carded wool and I ever so patiently wrapped everything in organic skin tone cotton. He is fully undressable.

For Asgard!!!
I tried very hard to keep a good balance and proportion and make his feet big enough so he can stand on it's own, with or without his boots, even with that big cloak of his and Mjolnir in his hand.

(chilling out at the Avenger's Mansion)
He is fully potionable, thus he can bend knees, arms, ankle and tilt his head (a little). I didn't bother trying to make him hands, he's so tiny!
His hair is a mohair crochet cap sewn onto his head. I used a lice comb to free all the mohair hairs. I used the european (waldorf) doll technique for his head.
His clothing is made of wool felt, black jersy knit, a tiny blue curtain leftover, and tiny pieces of leather scraps. And love. Lots and lots of love.

Can't wait to see my son's face when he open his gifts.
(and now I'm off to make a Captain America Tee)

Behold the mightyness of this package!!!

Me and Karen... Well, it's a great swappee-lovestory. We got to know each other quite well, and here's the things she carefully chosen to make to each of us:

Look at the happy boy! His name (merrick) is written in futhark on the other side. He loves it dearly and went to bed with it.

A very cute set of balls for Vik! It'll fit nicely with the cubes Monnie already did! ahah! I love that Karen chose the avatar symbols of each element. There's another design on the other side, all hand embroidered. You're awesome.

The perfect onesie for all the warm weather we got! It fits right now, which is what was needed!

Do you have your "pin it" button ready? Because even if you're not a mama, you'll want this play altar set for yourself. I LOVE it!

This picture doesn't do justice to the thing, but this wind catcher is lovely and summery and goes perfectly with the one Wulf made me some summer (or winter?) ago, which is maybe an indication that I need more orange in my life. I love it as well!

The cutest kitchen witch! all for me! I'll find her a place next to Ludi's. There was a spoon with her but the baby took off with it! The ribbon wands are a total hit, weather to dance, make some noise or chew on it. The little suns are very cute and will find a place in my house when we get back, along with those witch balls:

And that fae! I did wrap it and tried to wait until Monday (my daughter's birthday) but when she saw Merrick's Mjolnir she asked if she got something just for her...

She yelled of joice.
"Her wings are so so pretty Maman!"
I found that too Smiley She was named Illa and was aligned with her other dearest dolls I made her when it was bedtime. You should know she still plays with that first doll you made her 3 years ago for Yule!

Thank you so much Karen! It was so fun getting to swap with you once more! Each object will be cherished in our home.

The pattern is from here : http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/dragon-watchers-hood
I asked my son to model it, I'm lame at taking pictures of myself. I made it for an (adult) friend for a swap Cheesy

and flat:

Used three skeins of bulky yarn but knitted surprisingly fast.
9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Juno -A cuddle doll for my 1yr old! on: June 26, 2014 10:39:50 AM
My third son turned 1. And, even if we have severals *cough cough* handmade dolls in our house, Victor didn't have his, you know.

The head is made with the euro technique of making a wool ball and using string to model the face. The nose and chin is sculpted with a needle. I knitted his body in merino baby since I couldn't find the right fabric (it had to be red!) and I had this great yarn a dear friend gave me when I was pregnant. The skin is organic cotton and he's filled with soft soft wool.

Blurry appreciation picture on his spcial day:
