11  Yoga/Zen/Meditation Swap in New Swap Theme Ideas by Mamaneedles on: March 08, 2015 02:29:09 PM

(Trikonasana courtesy of my son Victor with his own beautiful varation. Awesome tie-dye onesie by our beloved craftster Abbeeroad)

I haven't swaped for a long, long time! A year maybe? But I've looked around and haven't seen an active one so, let me suggest you a Yoga/Zen/Meditation Swap!! May it be a yoga mat, inspirational quote on a tote, a colorful zafu, yummy smelling mat spray, inscense, feel-good bath salt or yoga socks!! Anything you'd wish yoga or zen related Smiley

I'll host it (haven't done that in forever!) and I don't know how busy you all are but a 3 or 5 pts sound great to me. I'd start the sign-up soon, like the 15th and leave it open two weeks, leave a whole month to craft and put the SO at May 1st.

Anybody in? Cheesy

12  Masha, a big girl doll IMG heavy! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Mamaneedles on: February 21, 2015 07:58:55 AM

Masha is a huge waldorf inspired doll that I made for my girl's 6th birthday. She's all made of organic coton and stuffed with wool, and has a wire squeleton so she's somewhat posable. She has a nose and a chin and a strong neck and 10 fingers and 10 toes!! (very important critera for my girl... all the fingers move!) Her hairs are very soft mohair strand atteched to a crocheted cap, and some strands are hand-died with tea because I ran out of the first color and had to impro with white!

Her clothing is all upcycling from shirts, she has leggings, long sleeve shirt and the inu-inspired coat was a fleece blanket and actual real fur found in a yard sale. I've knitted her a hat and a cowl because it's crazy cold in here!

Thanks for looking!!

13  Thor Odinson in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Mamaneedles on: July 30, 2014 06:55:58 PM
We have a thing for Thor around here. You know, he's so strong and mighty. My son, probably like much of the 4 yr olds, loves him as well, and it so happens that he sports blue eyes and long blond hair just like him!

I was planning making him a real life size Mjolnir for his bday this weekend, but k_michele_craftyfae took care of that. I had to find something else... And if you do not know it already, I DO love to make dolls, so I decided that a posable dollhouse Thor dolly would be the perfect thing for my son.

He has a wire skeleton wrapped in clean carded wool and I ever so patiently wrapped everything in organic skin tone cotton. He is fully undressable.

For Asgard!!!
I tried very hard to keep a good balance and proportion and make his feet big enough so he can stand on it's own, with or without his boots, even with that big cloak of his and Mjolnir in his hand.

(chilling out at the Avenger's Mansion)
He is fully potionable, thus he can bend knees, arms, ankle and tilt his head (a little). I didn't bother trying to make him hands, he's so tiny!
His hair is a mohair crochet cap sewn onto his head. I used a lice comb to free all the mohair hairs. I used the european (waldorf) doll technique for his head.
His clothing is made of wool felt, black jersy knit, a tiny blue curtain leftover, and tiny pieces of leather scraps. And love. Lots and lots of love.

Can't wait to see my son's face when he open his gifts.
(and now I'm off to make a Captain America Tee)

14  Re: WWP Round 50 - Celestial Litha Swap - Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Mamaneedles on: July 03, 2014 07:31:46 PM
Behold the mightyness of this package!!!

Me and Karen... Well, it's a great swappee-lovestory. We got to know each other quite well, and here's the things she carefully chosen to make to each of us:

Look at the happy boy! His name (merrick) is written in futhark on the other side. He loves it dearly and went to bed with it.

A very cute set of balls for Vik! It'll fit nicely with the cubes Monnie already did! ahah! I love that Karen chose the avatar symbols of each element. There's another design on the other side, all hand embroidered. You're awesome.

The perfect onesie for all the warm weather we got! It fits right now, which is what was needed!

Do you have your "pin it" button ready? Because even if you're not a mama, you'll want this play altar set for yourself. I LOVE it!

This picture doesn't do justice to the thing, but this wind catcher is lovely and summery and goes perfectly with the one Wulf made me some summer (or winter?) ago, which is maybe an indication that I need more orange in my life. I love it as well!

The cutest kitchen witch! all for me! I'll find her a place next to Ludi's. There was a spoon with her but the baby took off with it! The ribbon wands are a total hit, weather to dance, make some noise or chew on it. The little suns are very cute and will find a place in my house when we get back, along with those witch balls:

And that fae! I did wrap it and tried to wait until Monday (my daughter's birthday) but when she saw Merrick's Mjolnir she asked if she got something just for her...

She yelled of joice.
"Her wings are so so pretty Maman!"
I found that too Smiley She was named Illa and was aligned with her other dearest dolls I made her when it was bedtime. You should know she still plays with that first doll you made her 3 years ago for Yule!

Thank you so much Karen! It was so fun getting to swap with you once more! Each object will be cherished in our home.

15  Dragon's Keeper hood. in Knitting: Completed Projects by Mamaneedles on: June 26, 2014 07:45:33 PM
The pattern is from here : http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/dragon-watchers-hood
I asked my son to model it, I'm lame at taking pictures of myself. I made it for an (adult) friend for a swap Cheesy

and flat:

Used three skeins of bulky yarn but knitted surprisingly fast.

16  Juno -A cuddle doll for my 1yr old! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Mamaneedles on: June 26, 2014 10:39:50 AM
My third son turned 1. And, even if we have severals *cough cough* handmade dolls in our house, Victor didn't have his, you know.

The head is made with the euro technique of making a wool ball and using string to model the face. The nose and chin is sculpted with a needle. I knitted his body in merino baby since I couldn't find the right fabric (it had to be red!) and I had this great yarn a dear friend gave me when I was pregnant. The skin is organic cotton and he's filled with soft soft wool.

Blurry appreciation picture on his spcial day:

17  Neverland pirate maps in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Mamaneedles on: June 13, 2014 06:25:20 AM
Here's a little map I made for a friend of my son. He's having a pirate theme birthday Smiley

And here's the one my daugther made for herself while I was making the other:

She ditched the island idea altogether and declared our treasure chest was in the bottom of the ocean.

The fabric is flax and we used crayolas, hoping it doesn't get thrown in the wash by accident!

Challenge: Quidditch!! (150 pts to gryffindor!)
House: Gryffindor
Desc: I wanted to make a little something for my lovely ladies that played along this semester. I couldn't do much but I'll send this little watercolor card to someone that participated in the Quidditch challenge and turned in their flying assigment.

I'll count the points this weekend and withdraw someone this week Cheesy

Let's see what I can turn into assigment for this one last time!

Class: Arithmancy
House: Gryffindor
Desc: 8 is the number of the Sabbath in the Wheel of the Year, and I made us a little friendly reminder for our wall, soon to be transform into a coloring page when I get the time Smiley

Class : CoMC
House: RAwwwrrrrrr....
Desc: For this doll's clothing I used two different fabric with colorful pattern and a soft green fabric too Smiley

Class: Potion
House: Gryffindor
Desc: This is the doll I made for Victor's first birthday. I couldn't find the right red fabric, so I decided to take out the special Merino superwash baby yarn and knit him the dolly instead of sewing. I came up with the pattern as I went. I love him and so does the little guy I made him for!

Challenge: DA- Department of Mysteries
House: Gryffindor
Desc: My friend is openning a coffee shop in her village, and she needed a great logo for marketing. I made her a couple of drawings, edited the one she and her partner liked and put some text. The name means "Little Happiness", roughly. I did it for free (or mayhaps a lifetime of free coffee!) saving her tons of money on a graphist.

Challenge: May WIP
House: Graaarrrrwwwwfindor
Desc: This one is still a WIP, or so to say, because she has no clothing made just for her, but the body and hair is done, actually. And you know it took me more than 30min for those part (more like, 20h!!!) Her body is a wire skeleton wrapped with wool. She has bandable finders, wrist and limb. She has a chin, nostrils and hairs. Her hairs are mohair so, so soft! I made her for Mariann 6th birthday next July. I couldn't keep her from playing with her already!

I promise to provide better picture of her once she has proper clothing.

Phew.

I LOVE the owlet pincushion!! SO, SO CUTE! (yes I'm yelling. In a high-pitched tonne!)

will. update. quidditch. later.......
