1  Re: GALLERY: Craft My Pet For Me in The Swap Gallery by legatostroke on: July 23, 2014 08:09:39 AM
I received from Onyxnox last night and what an awesome package!

After seeing her Pinterest, I must admit that I was really hoping for some birch trees and I got them on her note card to me! I will probably frame this card and put it up with everything else.

Then I pulled out a canvas called "Nugget-Nine Ways", beautiful notecards, and the stamp used to make them both! Expertly carved. I can't wait to use this.  Smiley

Then I pulled out a small canvas with a picture of my baby girl as the angel she is. Looks like Onyxnox used vellum to make her dimensional and give her wings. This is so perfect and loved--thank you!! She put a great tag on the back and the edges say "All Dog Go To Heaven". This is seriously incredible.

Finally, I pulled out Christmas ornaments for our black and gold tree. However, these aren't going on it (or maybe I'll move them for December) because I want them up all year long. These look like stamped clay and are just so cool. One for each dog.

and the backs plus some smaller ones.

Ahh, I have never been this anxious about a swap before. I really, really hope my partner likes my package as much as I love hers.

Thank you!!

2  Re: CRAFT MY PET FOR ME! (SU June 7-21;SO July 21, 2014) ***2 SPOTS LEFT*** in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by legatostroke on: June 14, 2014 07:51:24 PM
Crafting pets is my favorite kind of swap! Haven't had a chance to read the thread yet, but there's no doubt I want in. Hurrying to fill out my questionnaire now.  Smiley

This is Ruger - my 7 month old puppy after he got out of the lake...

This is Trapper - who only stayed with us for a week but brought my husband and I closer in ways I could not have imagined could happen in so short a time...

This is my husband's Golden, Maddy, dressed as a lion...

This is Nugget - who lives with my parents - looking very handsome...

And this is Patches - the dog that made me the person I am and forever the most important part of my life. I can honestly say there has not been a single day without her that I haven't thought about her (it's been 9 years).

3  Re: 100 Facts about Me Swap Round 4 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by legatostroke on: May 27, 2014 07:19:16 AM
I received from crazyda79 on Saturday but was out of town for the weekend. Everything is awesome - thank you so much!

There is a red and black music hoop to match my dining room...

a nautical themed mirror to match my office...

a train picture transferred to wood because I am fascinated by trains (this is at work with me now displayed on my desk)...

coasters of my dogs and others because I love dogs...

a Halloween frame for my favorite holiday...

grape-themed pot holders to match my kitchen...

a notepad because I always keep lists, a passport holder in case I get to visit a French-speaking country, and a football decoration with my husband's team and mine...

a set of glasses with a Boy Meets World theme (what a great idea and addition to my glass collection - love BMW)...

awesome fabric to add to my in progress African Savannah quilt.

Thank you again, crazyda79!!

4  Re: MINI 12 Days Of Christmas Swap 2013 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by legatostroke on: December 07, 2013 06:15:58 PM
Received from sweety28303 today - looks awesome and takes up the whole table!

Today is day 1, right? I keep looking at the calendar and second guessing myself. And I probably put the wrong dates on everything I sent too. No idea. Anyway, my partner sent gold ornaments which I've already added to our black and gold tree!

Obligatory tree shot:

Day 2 is this fox - LOVE him! Thanks, Jolene!!

Day 3 is a pretty Christmas tin of goodies - mmmm peach rings. Smiley

Day 4 is a fabric hoopla - like this a lot. Perfect addition to the collection. Smiley

Day 5 are two huge lotions with the. best. scents.

Day 6 is a jar of chocolate and some little snack bowls with...PENGUINS!

Day 7 is an Alice in Wonderland charm bracelet!!! I have wanted one of these forever and this one is perfect!!! Also this great framed crochet piece is already on my wall - love it!! My partner confirmed that the framed crochet piece can also be an earring holder - very cool. The wall it is on is in a room where that can easily happen. Smiley

Day 8 is a whole button set and 2 great yarns. I've started a small collection of yarns for when I get to some weaving projects and a couple small crochet projects I haven't had time for yet. I don't think I told my partner that, but these are wonderful additions.

She also asked me to post her day 8 so here it is: an apron to match day 7.

Day 9 is a black and gold scarf - LOVE IT!

Day 10 - Matching hat!! I love these so much. I am terrible at crochet so these are things I could never make for myself. Thank you, Jolene.

Day 11 is this awesome shrug/cape - I don't know the word but I love these. It is always so cold at my office that I wear one everyday at my desk and now I have this gorgeous crocheted one. This must have taken forever. !!!!!!

I have to break the rules and post day 12 a smidge early as I won't have time to do it for a few days. My partner also had asked that I post day 12 for her, but hopefully she won't see until tomorrow. Smiley

Day 12 from my partner is SO AWESOME! Jolene - everything you sent was perfect and I thank you much for being such a good partner. I cannot tell you how surprised and excited I am that day 12 is a blanket!! The crocheting is wonderful and it matches our living room. Thank you so so much!!

Day 12 that I sent is an acrylic painting of some of the Disney villains.

5  Re: MINI 12 Days of Christmas Swap 2013 -- MATCHES; SO 11/27/13 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by legatostroke on: August 14, 2013 07:25:18 PM

CabinArts I did steal a bunch of ideas from here and pinterest and etsy and made some things. I made my bridesmaids jewelry, designed and printed our invitations, menu cards for the tables (its a buffet), and tags for the candy bar, and made tidepool candles as favors out of soy wax in scallop shells. I threw in the towel on centerpieces at one point and my mom took over. She also made the arch that we are standing in front of for the ceremony. And my bridesmaids are getting lip balm and soaps that I made as part of their gifts. Oh, and one bridesmaid and I are making a few more dozen cookies next Thursday. I think that is all

make sure you post us photos of your wedding - love that you made so much for your wedding!!! Smiley  i wanna see the scallop shell candles!!  Smiley

Here they are. Smiley I am pretty sure I stole this from someone on Etsy but it was so long ago I can't give proper credit. They're about 3-4 inches wide each (and I trimmed the wicks after the picture).
And I'm crazy so my photographer will have to take pictures of every. single. thing. Haha.

6  Mr. Peanut in Halloween Costumes by legatostroke on: November 02, 2012 08:55:41 AM
I made my costume and my fiance's costume. We don't really do 'couples' costume, but we only took a few pictures and we're both in most of them. I'll tell you about both, but I'm just entering Mr. Peanut.

For the Ursula costume, I made the corset/tentacles which are stuffed with bubblewrap and coat hangers, styled the wig to make it stand up, and put together the necklace. For Mr. Peanut, I put made the body out of upholstery foam, fabric, and paint. I also made the spats, screen printed the hat, painted a Goodwill cane, and fashioned a monocle out of jewelry findings. The body is a little tight because fiance always waits until the last minute and he wasn't home to try it on as I was making it.

Also - as always, I am sure I borrowed ideas from Craftster and the internet in general so credit is owed but I don't know where at the moment.

7  would love ideas for fishing items or interesting toys or anything else in Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage by legatostroke on: September 22, 2012 09:57:01 PM
This is long--sorry--but I really hope someone has some ideas I can borrow...

So...I usually half buy half make my Christmas gifts each year for each person. My dad is all-around difficult to think of gifts for which is actually the reason I don't get my mom all of the things I think of to get her--I like to keep them even. Smiley My dad definitely appreciates all of my gifts and does appreciate the homemade ones. I found out once that he was disappointed that he got a store-bought father's day card from me. I won't do that again, haha. But anyway, it is tough to get/make him something that he loves not just 'because I got/made it for him'. Soooo somebody help me out here...please!

He is NOT a tie wearing, golf playing, sport fanatic, technology using, beer drinking, or other stereotypical dad-gift kinda guy. He does love to fish but he does not fly-fish and he is not a sit-in-the-boat-and-drink kinda guy either. He uses his tools but he's too particular about them (and has them all) for me to buy the right ones, and isn't into the 'Mr. Fix-It' type novelty gifts. He's not into the Grill-Man novelty gifts either though he cooks some and does it well. I think I may have already exhausted cooking gifts though. He hunts some-archery and guns. He also just got a new pistol. He makes his own fun pistol targets like his dueling tree. Wall-art is a no go. Since my mom is also a fisher, a gift of wall art is pretty much a mom gift. Basically, if the idea isn't hidden in the dark corners of the internet, then I've already tried or ruled it out, haha. No scarves, no gooey-photo album type things, probably no novelty items that just sit on a shelf somewhere...
For reference, hes in his 40s.

Things I've tried that he liked enough that they're worth mentioning:

welding caps: he wears these for work but you can only buy them in absurd and horrendous patterns and he is not into drawing any attention to himself. He LOVED these.

a magazine about true-but-strange deer which was filled with pictures of crazy antlers, etc. Definitely enjoyed this.

I've made him flannel pajamas that he wears. I got him a case of a hoagie spread he likes but can't buy at the stores close to him. I get both my parents trays of nuts every year. He liked a Kenny (South Park) bobble head that talked.

He likes the comedy of Rodney Carrington, Jeff Dunham, and Steven Wright. I have already given him every CD of their stuff imaginable and he doesn't watch the videos. I've also sent him to see them live. I am debating screen-printing a shirt with something funny on it (but probably as a pajama top because he again doesn't like drawing attention to himself in public). He likes classic rock (but you wouldn't just look at him and know that): Stevie Nicks, Three Dog Night, ZZ Top, and lots of others. I've already done the CD thing.

A small thing I've thought of is putting together a nice towel on a hook that clips to a beltloop for wiping off his hands while fishing. I think this will go over well but it doesn't make gifts to my parents even because mom will want one too. If anybody has ideas for craftable fishing (but not fly fishing) items...I would love to hear them.

If you know of any things that fall into the same category as a yip stick....those would be of interest to me. I can't describe what category that is, but if you know what one is, you probably know what else is like it. My dad is the sort to occasionally get bored enough to make an absurd toy and I think showing him one for a change would be cool.

Another small thing is leather cell phone holder for his belt. I made one last year but couldn't give it to him because (checking on Christmas Eve) his phone didn't fit. (I am 26 and don't live at home so I didn't get to check it beforehand). Might add this in again. Annd a screwdriver keychain so they're always handy. But I need some big things...

Also I can learn just about any craft (except crocheting/knitting) so any ideas are ok there. Also accepting store bought ideas. Thanks!

8  Re: 13 Days of Halloween Mini Swap Rd 4 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by legatostroke on: July 31, 2012 05:34:30 PM
Okay...a little behind on my Craftster-ing lately. Love so much in this gallery already. I'll follow suit with my partner and open a few (mom2em - if you want to open lots and pretend we started opening sooner...well...I won't tell if you won't, haha).

Here is everything piled on my desk:

I might have the numbers all mixed up but I think we both just said to open any number first so here goes...

Day 13: a cushion with a pocket which had some other days' things inside. Love the eyeball fabric.

Day 12: little guys that will make great magnets for the fridge.

Day 11: Halloween cards (maybe like ATCs...I don't know much about those) but these are going on the walls in my haunted dollhouse for sure.

Day 10: a notepad (I love making lists, haha) and two great postcards for my collection!

Day 9: coffin with someone inside...

Day 8: Cool idea - a candle goes under this so he lights up!

Day 7: Ribbon, stamp, nail polish, etc.

Day 6:little clay gavestones...

Day 3: ...and little clay pumpkins (and other things) which are going straight into my haunted (doll) house!

Day 4 and 5: matching placemats and napkins - look how cute the fabric is Smiley

Day 2: decorated BOO letters for the mantel

Day 1: I have eaten so many of these already, haha...buuuuut that's ok because when they are gone I'm going to think of something great to use this container for...

Thanks for everything mom2em! Had a lot of fun in this swap. Smiley

I received from warpedhooker this weekend and I'm so excited--no way I could do either of these things and they are both wonderful!!

She sent a great bolero/shrug that fits perfectly. This must've taken quite a while! Maybe a action shot later (I've got a terrible cold and am not about to take a picture of myself right now  Smiley ).

Annd a close up of the 3 constellation hoops! I should have taken a picture of the backs as well because she finished them beautifully. Annd the brightest star in the Orion hoop is a tiny gem! The others are the Big and Little Dippers and Virgo!

Thanks again, warpedhooker! I love both!
