I'm so happy how these turned out. I had a goal to work on two purses this weekend and to make sure they came out good! I think these are some of the first ones I made that don't really have any major boo-boos!





This one had given me trouble before...the satin fabric threads ran where I top stitched it. This time, I just left out that step. And I think it turned out ok.

I was super excited about making this design I came up with, until I finished the bag and saw the result...see pics below....


you can see here once i turned the bag right side out you could see the thread pulling at some of the seams. how do i avoid this??


here you see where i topstitched the satin part of the bag and the needle caused the fabric to "run". next to it i placed an example of the same fabric i had sewn in the same exact way (same needle, same thread, same interfacing) the next day and it didn't run. HELP!!! Why did this happen???

it's driving me nuts!

I think this one turned out alright. I'm hoping to make several of these in different combinations of fabrics/vinyl.

I have a love/hate relationship with this bag. I usually try to make my own designs or alter patterns. And I tell ya, that's tough for someone like me, who's never even really been taught how to sew!

Anyway here it is....I have two minor tweaks to make, but after much heartache I think it turned out ok.  





And don't even get me started on working w/ vinyl! I actually made this clutch a bit larger than my first try. The peltex and the vinyl combo is just too tough to work around the sewing arm of my machine. I'm just glad I didn't break a needle!

I made this purse a while back when I was in my box purse phase.

Sometimes I want to go back to it...

This is the clutch I had such a hard time with. The Peltex and the vinyl combined were a major pain for my feeble brain!!

But, with the second try, I think it came out ok. I still have a few spots to touch up, tho.

Hello there!! I think this is one of my first posts....I've been a lurker for a while! But also I've been delving into photography recently and it's taken me away from sewing and painting.

Anywho...wanted to show the type of "bags" I used to do. What do y'all think? Are people still into this type of purse?...
