3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / troll - remember these? on: April 23, 2012 08:22:26 PM
I went to a doll show in March and found trolls - 6 for a dollar!!!  They are naked, so I thought, hmmm they need to be dressed.  This is the first one.

I call her Anabella Mctrollska.  She is a hire wire act in the circus, along with her unicorn, Bella.

Anabella is painted with nail polish, trimmed in gold crochet thread and shell stitch skirt.  She has a bead collar.  Bella is painted with white acrylic paint and purple watercolor for the main and tail.  Silver sharpie was used for the wings.

And now in the center ring.... the lovely Annbella!!

Sorry!! Didn't mean to be rude.  I just got caught up in the design retelling!!

Thanks for the nice comments!!

Duck is a golden retriever.  Such a good boy.  He doesn't bark a lot and he always does what he is told.
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Poor Duck!! on: November 29, 2011 05:39:43 PM
I started with the christmas tree square from the 200 crochet blocks for blankets, throws and afghans book.  Then I single crocheted around evenly, then started granny squaring (?) around till I got to the right size.  On top, I made a collar and at the bottom a ruffle and sewed all three things together.

My son and Duck come to visit on Sundays.  That's when I tried it on, tweaked it to fit and made the tie that goes around his belly and sewed on side on with a button and made another button on the other side to button into the sweater.

Next time, I think I'll measure the dog before I make the sweater!!

8  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / snail newbie attempt on: October 26, 2011 07:57:47 PM
I hadn't worked in clay for months.  My first attempts were 2 aliens and a frog posted here ages ago.   They have fallen apart and look awful!!  One I dropped and it shattered like glass.   I thought I would try a snail out of a book.  It' didn't much explain how to make the shapes, but I rolled and rerolled parts until I thought everything looked okay.  I think I also used the wrong tools.  I for sure don't have a pasta machine, so I just twisted the tail part candy cane style.  Is there a really good app or tutorial site that uses videos to teach techniques?

Here's my snail.  I think I'll let Pop use his magic touch and do his rock thing with it!!

9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / PopCuellar's new obsession on: October 26, 2011 07:48:03 PM
Pop has a new thing.  We started going to Goodwills and barn sales together.  He started looking for containers for his plants first, then he started seeing small ceramic and resin things.  He loves rocks, and he started putting the little doodads and rocks together.  Here's my favorite.

I think he's on to something here.
10  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Yarn dolls on: October 18, 2011 10:59:50 PM
My son went to comicon and asked if I would make him a Flash figurine.  I remembered those yarn octupses we used to make as kids.  I wondered If I could make figures.  I looked at a few resources and came up with an idea.  I made the superman first.  Flash came next.  Then I thought, I want to make a fairy type doll.  I can make a tutorial if anyone is interested.

Superman.  His face needs improvement.

Flash was next.  My son has him at work.  The face is felt.  I think his eyes are too big!!

The fairy was just finished today.  I especially like her hair.

Sorry about the sideways cell phone photos.  I'm not very computer savy!!
