1  Re: Hoopla Swap R11: Words With or Without Words - GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by applesandpumpkins on: July 07, 2014 11:26:30 PM
I received from Alittlemusthave today!

My goodness, guys.. I was so excited when I opened this! I even did a little squeal! Cheesy

I had said in the questionnaire that I'd like any Harry Potter quote, and this is perfect.

The stitches are neat and pretty, the fabric tinting is awesome, and the tiny wand is so adorable!

Thanks so much!! It's living happily on my hoopla wall. Smiley

2  Godzilla Embroidery (My first time crayon tinting!) in Needlework: Completed Projects by applesandpumpkins on: June 04, 2014 05:35:03 PM

I embroidered this for my boyfriend a few days ago. He said he wanted me to surprise him and I thought this pattern would be perfect!

(here's a link to where I found it)
http://zuill.us/andreablog/2009/06/28/julys-embroidery-pattern/

It's pretty much all back stitch, with two strands of floss. The only exceptions were the eyes and teeth - for those I only used one strand of black. Also, the dot in his eye is a teeny tiny french knot!

As for the crayon tinting, it was super simple. I had never done it before, but I wanted to try something new and make Godzilla a little bit more special.

Basically, all I did was:
1. Trace the pattern onto my fabric with a pencil (pencil is best, because you can easily hide it with your stitches).
2. Put fabric in a hoop and pull tight (this makes it easy to color with the crayons).
3. Color inside the pencil lines.
4. Iron the design between two sheets of regular printer paper to set the crayon and soak up any excess wax.
5. Embroider as I usually would.

It was so easy and I think it makes him really pop! I love this technique so much.

Here's a closer view of the stitches.

Hope you guys like him! Smiley Thanks for looking!

3  Lots of Cross Stitch Phone cases! in Needlework: Completed Projects by applesandpumpkins on: February 02, 2014 11:48:17 AM
So, recently I discovered that they make these really awesome blank iphone cases. I saw one at Walmart one day and I just had to get it.

Here's the one I made for myself! (4S)

A friend on mine saw this picture and asked me to make two cases for him. One of Sonic and one of Knuckles! (these are also 4S)

In case you're wondering how I designed them.. I found a grid on the internet, but the stitch count was off by a few, so I edited it in photoshop to make it exactly the same as the case. Then I found the sonic and knuckles pixels and stretched so that they fit into the grid! Here's how they look.

After I finished those, another friend wanted mario riding yoshi. I'm done not stitching it yet, but here's the design! The whole thing wouldn't fit, but I think it looks fine (I sent it to him and he said it's fine, too!). Smiley This one is for the iphone 5.

I thought these were so cool and just wanted to share! Hope you guys like them!

My turn! My amazing swap partner was quaggy! Aka Mistletoe Kisses. She made me sooo much awesome stuff (and sent a ton of extras)! I was completely spoiled and couldn't have imagined a better package! I said in the questionnaire that owls and forest animals were my favorites and she definitely listened. Everything is so perfect!

Here's everything all wrapped up. All of the presents have hand painted gift tags on them! And the wrapping paper is so cute.

And she also sent a bunch of extra gift tags!

They were in this bag. I love the fabric!

This tin was filled with candy and...

Two gingerbread ornaments! They're so cute and I put them on my tree right away.

Pretty owl candles.

This awesome owl mug rug!

I collect coffee mugs and I love this one so much. I've been drinking out of this nonstop since yesterday morning when I opened my package!

Tiny owl pincushion!

More owly goodness! This looks so good on my shelf with all my other decorations. I thought it was such a cute idea.

I have never seen these before and they're delicious.

And I saved my favorite thing for last, this beautiful mixed media hoop! I squealed every time I opened something, but I probably squealed loud enough to wake the dead when I saw this. I love it so much and I'm keeping it on my wall year round.

Thank you so much, Quaggy!! Like I said, you completely spoiled me and I appreciate it so much! I absolutely love everything. Merry Christmas!!! Smiley

Gosh, I love everything in the gallery! Great job, everyone. And I'm so glad you like your package, Calsters.

Sorry I haven't gotten around to posting pictures until now. I lost my camera cord and just found it today. :/ lol.

First, a close-up of my AWESOME monkey! I love her pink eyes, her earrings, and her nautical dress! (Nautical was one of my theme ideas.) She is absolutely perfect.

She also sent TWO of these crocheted dish cloths.

And this adorable ring! I loveee this. I call it my "hippie ring". Lol.

Also, this really cool magnet with my first initial on it. This went on my mini fridge as soon as I opened my package!

I received my package from frosty772 a few days ago and finally got around to posting pictures. Everything is awesome!

First, my absolutely beautiful quilted scarf. I love the fabrics she used. It just looks so vintage and cozy! It's pretty warm, too.

Here's a closer picture, so you can see the details of some of the fabrics better.

She also sent this pretty floral hat. It's so warm and cozy! Cheesy

And as an extra, she sent these really cool glittery crochet hooks. They are all different sizes. A few of them are pretty big and will be great for bulky yarn.

Thank you so much, Frosty! I love everything! This was a really fun swap. Smiley

Alright, so I recieved an amazing package from thedish a few days ago and finally got around to taking pictures.

First off, she made this AWESOME owl grocery tote. I had told her that owls are my favorite animal and I love this so much! It's so well made.

And here's the back.

Next is this really cool paper bead braclet that was handmade in Uganda. I'm sort of obsessed with bracelets and this is a great addition to my collection! Ha Smiley

Also, she made me a yeti stuffie! He only eats fruits and vegetables, which makes him all the more cool. I love his carrot Grin

And just for the heck of it, here's the back of him.

And.. a dino sticker! I have no idea what I will put it on yet. I told thedish that I need to find something that's worthy of such an awesome sticker.

Here's one last photo of everything together.

She also sent a note, and three delicious-sounding recipes that were printed out really neatly and laminated. They are pretty perfect for me and I can't wait to try them!
Thanks sooo much for being a great swap partner, thedish. I couldn't be happier with my package. Grin
