Hey everyone.  I'm going to have to miss our meet-up tonight.  I have a family member with the flu. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can come out of this one unscathed- but want to avoid exposing anyone, just in case!

I'm looking forward to the meet-up!  Any idea how many folks will be there?  Should we bring snacks?

I keep fabric scraps the size of my thumbnail in hopes of ONE DAY finding a purpose for them!  I also have NO idea what sewing machine maintenance means. Smiley

I am hitting up my closet for old lining as SOON as I post this comment.  What a fantastic project!  Thank you!

A sewing space!

For me, having a separate space for crafting/sewing is essential to my sanity.  In our old apartment, I converted our breakfast nook into a craft room.  Now, our guest bedroom is rapidly becoming my sewing room.  I have a small, antique sewing desk, a sewing machine, and a box of notions - all crammed in next to our guest bed.  I've also managed to sneak in a particle board, which I've hung over my sewing machine.  I tack up -anything- that inspires me from magazine clippings to fabric.  My space is super tiny, though.  I don't have anywhere to cut my fabric (except for the bed or floor, which isn't always reliable in terms of keeping measurements).  Does anyone have any ideas on how to work a small sewing space?

Also, I second PeanutPaterooski on a loud radio!

This sounds fun!  I'm sorry I missed the recent meet-up.  I will definitely try to make it to the Sept 18th meeting. I'll be out-of-town for work most of the week preceding the 18th, so I'm sure I'll be in desperate need of some crafting!

The Walmart on Siegen Lane in Baton Rouge just remodeled and destroyed their craft section.  For months, the yarn and knitting supplies were housed in the outdoor garden section!  The Siegen Walmart also no longer carries fabric.  The Walmart on College Drive, however, has not been remodeled and still has a fabric section.  I'm so over Walmart, though, I might just continue shopping at Hobby Lobby or Hancock Fabrics.  Angry
