1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / the pillbox hat (now with extra veil) on: November 13, 2007 02:50:55 PM
so this i made for costume construction class last year, it's a white satin pillbox hat with black edging and a black pearl-accented veil. it's a little too big for my head, which is kinda depressing, but i still like it. right now it's covering a bottle on my desk in my dorm room. Cheesy

yay!
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / pimp my dorm room on: November 12, 2007 12:50:10 AM
yay, i'm a college student. or have been, for two years now. and this is where i live:

view when you walk in

pictures i drew, on the wall

my signature blue tape tree. i made three of these in my room last year. we're not allowed to use any adhesives on the wall except blue tape. i've broken that rule in other regards, but i always use blue tape for the trees.
hope you like!
feel free to post anything creative you've done to your dorm room... let's see how we've made the best of our little boxes!
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / double doublets on: November 12, 2007 12:02:09 AM
because i am the maven of pattern drafting in my costume shop, i was assigned to make two doublets for measure for measure. here are the beautiful pictures of the works in progress:

for the duke

for angelo

i will post pictures of the finished ones once i get my lazy ass with a camera to the dressing rooms to steal them and photograph them (the show opened this weekend)
4  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / for you dancers out there: OLD POINTE SHOES! on: January 24, 2006 09:19:05 PM
ok, so i have about seven pairs of old, frayed-up, dingy pointe shoes lingering in my closet. and they have attached memories, so i'm not about to throw them away, plus they cost like fifty dollars a pair, so i feel kind of wasteful although i'm NEVER going to use them again in their current state.
WHAT DO I DO WITH THEM???
any suggestions?
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / ramen! on: January 02, 2006 11:35:57 PM
this hat is for my FSM obsessed friend, who has been begging me to make her one since my original. it's very much like the first, although the earflaps are better, the strings that tie the earflaps aren't horrifically long (when one ties them, the meatballs won't dangle right in front of one's nether regions), there is more spaghetti and the eyeballs and meatballs are bigger. and the pic is better. AND he now has two extra long noodly appendages.

Credits for the original original always to ThatSparky.

6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / horace and his pot on: November 27, 2005 11:36:01 PM
all plants should have names. because they're living things too, like animals.
this plant is named horace, and he lives in my bathroom.
the pot was a gift to my mother for mother's day, and she put wee horace in there, back when he was little more than a sprout from the 99 cent store. now he's thriving, and the pot is doing well too.

here's horace:

7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / dotted shells! ap exam! on: November 27, 2005 10:53:32 PM
for AP Art, some dotted shells, my favorite dot piece i've ever done.

entirely dotted. approximately 9"x9" or so
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / fish earrings and starry necklace on: November 26, 2005 08:04:13 PM
So, the fish earrings were part of my welcome day costume but I wear them everywhere because they make people stare at me:

And the starry necklace I made to wear to my friend's friend's band's concert at the Key Club. I also wore the fish earrings. I don't wear this much because the stars are those awful paillette things that stab you in the neck.

9  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / i'm a fan... of ceiling fans! on: November 26, 2005 07:33:55 PM
it was walnut-finished and ugly before:  Undecided
now it's GORGEOUS and PAINTED and MATCHES MY ROOM (which is turquoise)

Hope you like it. I do. It looks purty when it's going round and round. Now I just need to make a shade for that awful naked bulb... we got rid of the original cover when we moved in 2 years ago not knowing what it was, and now we're sorry.
10  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Cell Model Pillow... of DOOM! on: November 26, 2005 03:00:54 PM
you remember, from biology class, when you had to make a model of a cell (or at least color one in)?
this is my biology cell model, from two years ago, which i now feel a compulsion to share with you:

check the skillz:

And what the things are:
The pink sort of visible in the lower left corner: cell membrane
green blobs: lysosomes
blue oval blobs: mitochondria
varigated pink/peach/white patch with red balls: endoplasmic reticulum.
red balls: ribosomes
brown blob: Golgi apparatus
purple circle: nucleus
darker purple circle: nucleolus
red around purple circle: nuclear envelope
cream background: cytoplasm
aaannnd: blue/turquoise yarn: spindle fibers

i'm now making one for my physics teacher for his birthday... he saw it when i brought my portfolio to school with me to be photographed for college apps, and he loved it, so i offered to make him one...
gotta get a move on. and make one for my brother, a bio major, for christmas, as well.
