Hello fellow craftsters!
As much as I would like to take full credit for this project, I really can't... I had some help.
It all started with my awesome BFF who gave me a bunch of leather swatch books. I sat one day for a few hours detaching the swatches from their folders. I initially was going to make a purse but I wasn't totally sure. I had a mirror that I got for free off of Craigslist, but it had a tradition mirror frame that I wasn't thrilled with. So I asked my awesome father in law if he could make me a flat frame.

I then, plopped everything on the floor and after about an hour of that I decided to lean it back up on the wall cause my back started hurting.



That didn't work out either so I wound up working on my dining room table.

Here is a close-up to show some of the different textures...





Here it is almost finished....



It was still missing something. So I bought some brass furniture tacks. luckily I had a rubber mallet.





I put them where all the corners meet and also all over the inside and outside if the frame...



and then my super-awesome fiance hooked up the hanging wire and the mirror and viola... a leather patchwork mirror! I think it came out pretty cool.. what do you think?



p.s. the mirror is 41" x 53"

Hi everybody! Well here is a cute little box i made for my Mom (in-law) for her birthday. I had made her some wire bookmarks and needed something cute to put them in. I had originally written "bookmark" on the top, but then changed my mind and decided to write "Mom" instead. I am an unemployed graphic designer and designed the images on the top and inside. :-)

I'm FINALLY finished! Me & my crazy ideas...So my man and I are slowly remodeling our home. We are sprucing the place up ourselves since the economy is in the crapper and I am unemployed. There was one wall that I felt needed some art. I came up with the crazy idea of doing a tapestry. Long story short, this was my third and final attempt. I went to Joann's and purchased a yard and a half of canvas and got back to the drawing board...
 I'm currently going through a Mehndi stage. I just love the designs...
So here is how it all started;
First I hemmed & sewed the sides leaving room to insert a dowel at the top & bottom...
I downloaded some Mehndi designs and hand sketched them on the canvas and then outlined the whole thing with black sharpie markers. Then I washed and dried it to get the pencil marks off and ironed it.

then I colored it in with paint & fabric markers and regular markers..

then I decided to add some rhinestones & glitter...

Then I went through my jewelry making stuff and made a hanger for it..

And Voila...the finished tapestry up on the wall! :-)


its about 18" wide & 45" tall.

Hi everybody, well I saw one of these at Joann's and just had to try an make one myself. I made a mini dress form out of pillow stuffing and duct tape the I hot glued and taped it to an old candle holder. I the made a dress to fit over it with some left over fabric from my pop tab purse and added some frilly lace from old lingerie I never wear and some ribbon and finished it of with a little rose...THEN I STABBED IT REPEATEDLY! LOL...

I think it came out super cute...had to share! :-)

oh yeah...its about 2 inches taller than a regular sized water bottle. :-)

Ok,  so I was about to trash this bar stool that I was always tripping over when the hamster in my head starting spinning and I though "What can I do with this?"

I'm a firm believer in recycling, not just because of the environment but because I am unemployed and broke! I went into my craft lair/office/sewing room and found some scrap fabric that I had left over from recovering my dining room chairs and bar stools. I basically sat on the floor with it all and this is what I came up with. I already have two really nice bar stools and didn't really want another one so I made it into a table. I didn't want it to have the regular round top so scavenged the entire  house and miraculously found a piece of wood the exact size that I needed! I hot-glued it to the bar stool and covered it with the left over suede. then for the bottom shelved I basically glued some of the fabric to some foam core board that I just also happened to have and just tied some ribbons to the bottom bars for support. Crazy huh?



I think i'm gonna take it apart and sand an re-stain the legs...

Hi everyone, well here is miss Gaga! I drew this for my boyfriend's cousin (she is 16)
I used mostly all colored pencil and then used some white acrylic on the hair..oh yeah and some markers too...I pretty much use whatever i think will give the best result..
What do you think? Does it look like her? oh yeah..its 18 x 24!

I finally finished! I have seen a few of these on here and just had to try it for myself. Sorry no tute...I found a how to video on you tube...just search  pop tab and a few will come up.
I couldn't get it to lay straight but if you look at the one hanging om my dress form it looks better.
I am pretty happy with it..I pretty much just winged it when putting it together...what do you think?




I used 900 pop tabs!

the strap is 2 rows of 170 each= 340
and the two side panels are 7 rows of 40 = 560

I didn't figure on how to close it. I don't think I want a zipper...any other ideas?

Hello fellow craftsters!

So I LOVE baby wipes! The are the best for taking off your makeup! Even if you don't wear makeup they are still great to go to sleep with a clean face. I use them every night and buy by the case, but I hated the baby label. I was totally bored last weekend  and decided to do something cool on it so I could actually display it....
I painted it and hot glued some rhinestones

I think it came out cute...what do you think?

ok, so I saw a couple of these posted here and I just had to try it for myself!

Here is my version of the recycled magazine vase/basket. I'm not totally sure what I will use it for. Originally I was thinking of using it as a umbrella/cane holder, but I really like how it came out and I don't want it to get trashed, so I think I am going to use it as either a plant basket or a vase...not sure yet.  

I used about 2 and a half issues of Cookling light magazines (about 120 pages each). I rolled them up and then closed them with tape and then hot-glued them together. I used a coffee container lid for the base and then when I was done I gave it a coat of varnish to help protect it.





and YES, I do have WAY to much time on my hands! LOL! I lost my job and I'm trying to keep busy so I don't completely loose my mind...

onto the next project....what next? Hmmmm......

So I met this really cool chic "Anita" on craigslist one day who was kind enough to donate a bunch of bed sheets and curtain fabric...this is my first outfit.

The pics are a little blurry and I'm super bloated & feel like crap, but I think this came out really cute! it's very comfy so its what I am wearing today! Hope you likey!   






I shirred just underneath the bustline ant the very top so it would fit snug.


Did I mention this is my very first attempt EVER at making shorts! They are actually quite comfy. I made a drawstring cause i have no clue as to how to attach a zipper just yet...
