21  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Fascinators! on: June 22, 2006 08:53:14 PM

Victoria

The Peahen's Envy

Creamsicle

My newest obsession!  I think I'll try to sell those I can part with, but most of them I just can't bear to let out of my hands.  Thanks go to niceandlucy, who not only made this post, but who also sent me one of her fascinators for free and thus got me started on my voracious binge.  I have thus sworn to singlehandedly bring these things back into fashion in her honor.

Feel free to suggest names for those without.
22  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Ongoing Wish Swap 11! on: June 21, 2006 07:11:41 PM
I claim jaami for an Amelia hat, and/or possibly a tote with tallship.  Color suggestions?

I live in Colorado.  This is my fifth (!) claim of the swap: three have been recieved and one is in progress.  I am a wish swap whore.  Wow.

1. DNA scarf: http://www.twosheep.com/helix is the pattern link.  I’d like it in either cream/off white or dark red.

2. Long shot: this bag: http://www.savvyseams.com/bags/miniduffel.php , with this outer fabric:  http://www.equilter.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=64044&sid=31U9Hz1UPCTC8ZO-36106266893.1f

3. The following Sublime Stitching pattern sets: Atomique, Under the Sea, Craftopia, and/or Monkey Love.

4.   A few sets of cool looking and relatively light weight hair sticks with instructions, perhaps related to some of the interests/color schemes I’ve listed below this wishlist.  Dangly and sparkly things are love.

5.  A roll up knitting needle case (straights) in a cool fabric.

6.  Soap in the following scents: lemongrass, pineapple and/or other tropical fruits (banana, mango, etc), apple, butterscotch, and/or vanilla.

7.  Some really nice blank book(s).  Hand bound is good (though not absolutely necessary- as a bookbinder myself, I know the effort that takes), unique papers and assortments of page papers even better.  The more pages the better.

8.  I’d love a tall ship pendant a la http://www.scrimshanders.com/newport/catalog/images/wj-p4-450.jpg -and would it be possible to put text on the back, I’ve got something in mind for that too.

9.  A wearable object with a phoenix on it.  Some kind of pendant would be lovely –more scrimshaw, microscope slide glass, PMC, fun with those big flat glass marbles- or perhaps clothing.  Failing that, I would utterly adore a print of this piece: http://www.shadowscapes.com/Tarot/majors.php?card=13.

10.  As many of the following knitting magazines as I can get: Rebecca 27, Rebecca 28, Rowan 37, Rowan 31, Rowan 34.

11.  A collection composed of any possible combinations of the following knick-knacks: skeleton keys, mah jong blocks, cool dominos, board game pieces, silver charms, glass beads and charms, bones, pirate/skull related trinkets, cloisonne fish charms, other cloisonne bits, tiger related trinkets, Micro Machines (the really little ones I had as a kid and can’t find anywhere now- less than 1” long), interesting and unique buttons, interesting and unique dice, circuit boards, cool dollhouse miniatures, compasses, and anything else little and fiddly and interesting.  I like to make weird jewelry out of interesting and unique fiddly bits. Also, cool papers and cuttings and stickers and ephemera for artjournaling would be loved.   I’ve been sent this one once, but I could always use more weird stuff- for journaling in particular this time around.

12. Fabric from my wist: http://www.wists.com/amba/fabric, or craft supplies (http://www.wists.com/amba/crafting).  Or anything, really, but this is a craft-related swap sort of thing.

13. A simple full-to-queen-sized throw quilt in dark red and cream. Minimal padding, minimal complications.  I want something soft and classy I can use when my comforter is too warm.

14.  A Slytherin scarf a la http://knit.atypically.net/scarves/azkaban/pattern.shtml.  I prefer a knit tube to crochet or ribbing, for I wish it to be warm (wool/wool blends preferred) and look like a prop.  Because I’m a geek.  *is ashamed*

15.  A complete learn-to-needle-felt kit.  (Like this one: http://bluegooseglen.home.att.net/felting.htm)

16. A cat pillow, as seen here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=71675.0 using this picture: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v143/ambathegreat/personal/floofy.jpg  If you’re really ambitious, I wouldn’t mind one of Mandy (who died in December) too: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v143/ambathegreat/personal/mander.jpg High resolution photos available.

17. Bracelet blanks for marble bracelets, a la http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=26346.0

18. Any/as many as possible of the patterns seen here http://www.wists.com/amba/patterns  PM for size/measurements if necessary.  (The knitting patterns –excluding kits- wouldn’t even require shipping; just knowledge of my e-mail address so they can be sent to me.)  I've recieved some already, to my everlasting joy (thank you, kinkyknit), but there's always more.

19. A glass slide pendant kit, excluding the soldering gun (but, if possible, advice on what sort of gun I should buy).  If it includes wire I can make embellishments like stars and hearts out of and then solder them to the frames, that would be wonderful.

20.  An embroidered-and-appliqued tank or cami like this: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=16739970.0  and maybe a hint or two for embroidering on stretchy fabric.  Even with stabilizer, I can’t get it to look good.

About me:
My name is Tala and I’m a student at Colorado State University working towards a double major in Biology and Microbiology.  During the school year I’m an Organic Chemistry Stockroom Assistant, and during the summer I work at the Colorado Renaissance Festival.

Colors I like: red, purple, blue, black.

Themes I like: pirates, history, science, ancient Egypt, dinosaurs, prehistoric megafauna, stars, argyle, stripes, retro pin-ups and propaganda posters (particularly WWII/Soviet propaganda), rockabilly, animals (Tiger and Binturong are favorites) all that is geeky and bookwormish, the Phoenix, Victoriana, SCUBA diving, and corsets.

I have a personal wist at www.wists.com/amba and some crafting wists at www.wists.com/corvusknitting www.wists.com/corvussewing and www.wists.com/corvuscrafts .  That’s not too relevant to the swap unless you want to get a better feel for my tastes, but if you get bored you might find some new crochet/knitting/sewing/crafty links.

Finally, you can get an idea of my tastes in fabric at www.wists.com/amba/fabric

I claim devilninny for jewelry.  Got any favorite colors?

I'm in Colorado.  This is my fourth claim of this swap; two have been recieved and one has been partially recieved/is partially in the mail.

CaptainRiley’s Wishlist:

1. DNA scarf: http://www.twosheep.com/helix is the pattern link.  I’d like it in either cream/off white or dark red.

2. Long shot: this bag: http://www.savvyseams.com/bags/miniduffel.php , with this outer fabric:  http://www.equilter.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=64044&sid=31U9Hz1UPCTC8ZO-36106266893.1f

12.  Bloomers!  Like these http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=71820.0.  Pirate stripes in red and black would make this pirate very happy.  Preferably with a drawstring waist as versus elastic, as I rarely find elastic waists very comfortable.

13. A simple full-to-queen-sized throw quilt in dark red and cream. Minimal padding, minimal complications.  I want something soft and classy I can use when my comforter is too warm.

24  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Ongoing Wish Swap 11 Gallery on: June 15, 2006 10:51:15 AM
Package of random stuff recieved from Bluelise!  So very cool.  If my digital camera would work I'd show you, but you'll have to stand for descriptions.  I've got buttons and pins galore, a great resin pendant, a stack of coupons for various crafters, a leather skull-and-crossbones key fob (which I must use as it was intended, because I am a pirate nut), charms, a pair of earrings, pretty beads and more.  Thank you!  I've already got lots of ideas for this stuff.

I claim avsceriline for a suprise from her wist.  This is my third claim of this swap: two have been sent, one recieved.

Over much watching-of-the-swaps and browsing-of-the-internet, this list has grown to massive proportions.  I’d trim it down, but I figure the more stuff I have there, the easier it is for someone to find something they like and keep the swap flowing.

Ooo, this could get me to finally try my hand at corsets.  What qualifies as "designer"?  Would this work?

I've been trying to get myself to sit down with some leather and make some masks a la angel-mask.com, so this would be good motivation.

I made a pirate ship cake once.  It was seriously cool.

I might have to do this one if it becomes a challenge.
