I cut strips 3/4" wide out of red, tan, and black leather. Then I wove them together alternating colors and used that to cover the seat of an old bar stool. First i put foam padding on with spray glue. Then I used the spray glue for the leather too, and it looks great.
The foam I had, had material bonded to one side, (It was actually headliner material for cars) but you could just glue any material in between the foam and leather.
I found Craftster at CoolPick.com, a site run by the great Denny, who runs Freecell.com and some other stuff. He works for Microsoft.
It was the page for "What the heck can I make from this?" MY SPECIALTY, so I got here as fast as I could! Leah, you have attained "Denny" status in my eyes. Looking forward to getting to know you better.
I will get Budget Living asap! I rarely buy mags, am a professional tightwad, so it sounds up my alley.
That is just too adorable! Congrats on making it and getting it on the kitty! My cat is huge, that would be so funny on him. He's already mustard colored. He is the kind of cat that lets you do anything to him, so he probably would like it. YES, a cat dressed as a dog is HILARIOUS!!
I took an old drinking glass that came from a restaurant I think (found it in my yard). It is pretty thick glass. Melted down a bunch of old candle bits to make a candle out of it. The color is like root beer, so it looks pretty cool.
I love this! I'm about to make the butt dummy, and use it for motivation to lose weight! That is a good idea, whoever posted that. I too am alone here. I think I can handle it alone. Got a 600 ft roll of duck tape for 2.49 at Big lots. I thought bubble wrap might make good stuffing. Instead of saran wrap (good idea) I'm using a kitchen garbage bag.
I find halogen lamps people have put by the curb or at the collection center where people take their stuff for recycling, and have made some into bird feeders. (another topic I will post on later). Just found another one. This would make an excellent stand for a dress dummy, or a homemade mannequin! People throw those out a lot. This is third identical one like this I've found. It is a 6 foot pole on a base, with a dish on top. It is in 3 sections that unscrew.
Once I made a man by stuffing clothes with newspaper. (another post, later)
I just now had an idea... put on panty hose, and duck tape your legs, to make legs! Or arms even. Sorry if someone already said that, I read this 2 or 3 weeeks ago. Yall were talking about making body parts.
I will try to make mine into a sculpture, and put up pix.
Paint a mouse on it! or just eyes, nose, whiskers, etc. I would be astonished if no one had previously thought of this, but I SWEAR I just now thought of it myself! Darn, I threw out several old mice! I'm going to start doing this myself, and will post pix.
It's weird, that deja vu thing happens to me a lot on the net....
