51  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / I am new here and I am looking for vintage loving ladies on: August 19, 2009 11:23:28 AM
Hi, name is Psycho Sue and I am a dreamer trapped in an engineer's body.
I have been into making my own clothes for about a year, but before that I never had the patience, I guess turning 30 brings more then wrinkles Wink

I am a singer, guitarist in a local cover band with three other girls. We have always worn stage outfits with pink and black color scheme. It is probably my fault; b/c at the time I was blonde and I wore that combo alot...with my red tresses I prefer to wear red/black these days at to compliment my coif. Tee hee...but anyways I started sewing to make myself stage outfits. At the time I started I was really into gothic and 1970s UK punk inspired clothing/music. Think Sex pistols and 90s girl grunge ala babes in toyland/courtney love.... I like the bright colors and dark themes in the clothing as well as the antisocial- awesomeness they evoke Tongue

I made my first piece sans-pattern and then delved into buying patterns and altered them to my liking. I got pretty darn freeking good at it so I couldn't stop. As with all artists, I tend to get a bit...ahem...consum ed...in my work. But suffice it to say that sewing and creating has become a very strong passion for me.

So my tastes have evolved into the love of rockabilly/greaser/psychobilly/pinup art, music, and clothing. There is just something about this counterculture that seems to suit my life right at the moment. I am profoundly influenced by 1920,30,40's decades in areas of beauty and fashion. I find the clothing and hair to be so elegant. I think a little bit of elegance in normal life is what I need. I do consider myself a rockstar goddess without a record contract, so there ya go! Cheesy
I like to fuse the vintage fashion with modern fabrics that have a horror/halloween-ish theme..spiders..cof fins...skulls..all those goodies. So my gothic nature inspires my fabric choices. IDK if it is appealing to anyone else but I can't get enough of it! HA! I have been posting on threadbanger also, and I see a different crowd here on craftster that I would like to make a connection with. All artists need inspiration so this seems to be the perfect place for  it. I hope to find some other kitties on here that like the same things I do, and to share some of my favs with the community. Glad to meet you all

52  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Dress/Top from cherry fabric on: August 19, 2009 10:55:56 AM
I made a few things that I am crazy about lately. The top is a burda pattern and the dress is the simplicity project runway edition pattern. I have been experimenting with merging a smaller bust with a larger hip, and I think I have the technique down now Tongue Sorry about the links, since I am new I am not allowed to post pics yet.
