1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Polaroid 80's style Quilt on: January 29, 2015 04:26:50 PM
This is my very first large scale quilt! My first first quilt I made a small baby quilt for my nephew. After that, I kind of got a wee bit obsessive. I didn't follow any real pattern for the blocks, though they're fairly basic.

I started with the fabric I used in the polaroids. It's an old halloween print we used to sell at my job that one of my managers gave me scraps of. I came across polaroid quilts when I was looking for ideas of what to do with what I had and it kind of spiraled out from there. The other fabrics I used I bought online, he two skull prints and two camera prints coming from a Riley Blake line and the bows print one from a Kokka cotton canvas line. The backing fabric is another one from work actually, a dandilion kind of batik print. Everything I picked has been pretty heavily influenced by my love of 80's style bright colors and prints [something my mother doesn't understand since I was born in '93]

The quilt blocks and assembly I got done over about two weeks. After that the top sat for a little while, but I got it basted for quilting just before Christmas. Afterwards it sat for another few weeks, since I was getting ready for and went in to have surgery. Two week long hospital stays later, I was home and ready to kill some boredom. So over the past three days I machine quilted and bound and now it's done! It's nowhere near perfect, there are several spots where the sashing and squares don't match up, and there are puckers and not totally straight stitches, but I'm super excited to finally have this on my bed!

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Superhero Bra on: April 21, 2014 04:18:57 PM
I have been looking at making a bra for a few months now, the main thing holding me back being how complicated they are and that I have a rather large bust. Most commercial bra patterns rarely hit a DD cup, never mind my DDD/F. Finally I really started researching it, and found a few independent pattern makers. I went with a pattern from MakeBra, mostly because it includes a foam lined cup, and the additional structure is something I appreciate.

Over all, it was easier than I thought it would be, just very, very, time consuming. Since it was my first ever bra, it took 13 hours to make. However, Im really proud of it, and it is SO COMFORTABLE. There are definitely spots to improve [I hate foldover elastic], and I will be making more for sure.

As I said, I got my pattern from MakeBra
Elastics, rings, slides, underwire, channeling, foam, and closures I got from Sew Sassy
The cotton and spandex I picked up at work.
Overall this bra cost me about $25 dollars to make! SO much better than the 40+ I spend in stores getting a decent bra.
3  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / TARDIS Nightlight on: March 06, 2012 07:45:22 AM
So most prolly wont find this as cool as my TARDIS Box, but Im happy with it. Its a nightlight I made in class =D Yes, I still sleep with a nightlight. Im pretty sad to be putting away my dinosaur one that I got at the grocery store last year [I followed my mom around with it softly roaring until she bought it for me], but pretty happy to have made this one all on my own and to be using it =D. It was a lot easier than my box and took a lot less time [about 4 hours!]. I actually finished it about a week ago, but I was waiting to get a bulb for the light before I posted it =]. My lines are still a little uneven, and I'm still a beginner, but I love it!

I've got another project finished that I'll post soon, which is Star Trek! And right now I'm working on my final project of the semester, a panel that'll be around 14x10 when done!
4  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / It's Bigger on the Inside! [TARDIS Box] [IMG Heavy!] on: February 20, 2012 11:53:26 PM
This semester, I'm in Stained Glass II, which means that after two panels and a little simple box, we got to pick more complicated/design our own 3D stained glass pieces! I was originally planning on a lantern type thing, but I changed my mind and decided this would be a box to keep my ever growing candy stash! And since I'm a dork, it had to be a TARDIS! Anyways, here it is, please excuse the crooked lines and such of a beginner!

That's it! My next project is going to be something Dr. Who also, and I have a Star Trek thing on the list too! [Yep, far too geeky for my own good xD]
5  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Altered Converse turned to Platforms [Image Heavy!] on: January 13, 2012 10:46:14 PM
So I love converse sneakers. They are like, the only sneakers that fit my feet and so I have owned many pairs in my few 18 years xD. I have two pairs of extra-high converse, but unfortunately I don't wear them much because my calves are larger and even though I can just lace them looser to fit, they don't look as good. Then I wanted to alter a pair of shoes into platforms, and the only shoes I had available to do something like that were my extra-highs. And then it hit me as to how to make them better for my calves: fabric inserts! So I promptly put that together, changed out the laces with new ribbons from Joanns, and then did the platform building from a tutorial I found. I used duct tape to decorate the platforms and this is what I got!

These are what I ultimately ended up with:

These are what I started with:

This is before the platforms, after the initial alterations:

And here a couple more pictures of them with the platforms:

Thanks for looking X]
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Folded Front Skirt on: January 07, 2012 02:48:56 AM
I saw this really awesome fabric at Joann in the red tag bin when everything red tag was on sale and I had to snap it up. I've been really wanting to make more skirts to add to my wardrobe, and I thought it would be a really bright awesome addition. My mom saw the fabric and just went 'that is so horrible eighties. Fantastic, but horribly eighties'. Unfortunately they didn't have much left on the bolt at the store, so I ended up doing the back in plain black, but I'm happy with the effect =] So yeah, here it is [ignore my messy room xD]:
