1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: A whole outfit! Shirt, dress, and hat! on: January 22, 2010 08:30:32 AM
Wow!! Super stylish, I adore this!!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Quick and Easy Playdress! (TUTORIAL) on: January 22, 2010 08:27:07 AM
This dress literally took me about 15 minutes! There are several similar tutorials out there I think, but here's my version!

To make it, I trimmed the t-shirt off, and cut jersey fabric that was twice the width of the bottom of the t-shirt. Then I ruffled the jersey, sewed up the sides to make it a tube....

and sewed it on to the bottom of the t-shirt.

Then I cut a few inches of strips of extra jersey and rolled them up into flower shapes, and sewed them on with the machine! Easy!

3  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Outgrown Tights Into Knee-High socks! on: December 29, 2009 03:48:02 PM
"Extremely cute! Do you stretch the elastic while you zig zag sew?"

Nope, I didn't stretch the elastic or the fabric, and it fit perfectly!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Outgrown Tights Into Knee-High socks! on: December 28, 2009 01:08:22 PM
I've had this idea for so long, but I hadn't tried it because thought it seemed too easy, and it probably wouldn't work. But It did!! And it was easier than I even imagined.

I started with some old tights that were about two sizes too small, cutting off the legs.

Then I tucked under the top edge and sewed 1/2" wide elastic (measure the length around their leg first) to the inside of the sock with a zig-zag stitch.

Hand or machine stitch some bows, or stretch lace to embellish!

They fit my daughter perfectly, and they stay on all day!

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Fancy Frames On the Cheap! on: December 19, 2009 09:36:01 PM
I made these based on those gorgeous silver frames with clear gemstones that you see every once in a while. I couldn't afford gemstones, but I found some small glass gems at walmart that were really cheap, so I hot glued them to some spray painted frames!

So easy! But here's a tutorial with pictures if you need it: http://www.rufflesandstuff.com/2009/12/easy-fancy-pants-frames.html
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Mini Tree Wall Hanging With Removable Ornaments! on: December 03, 2009 12:38:41 PM
I made this little tree for my daughter's room so that she could decorate it (and not break our family tree ornaments!), and she loves it so much!
One side is brown felt, and the other is polka-dotted cotton, with a layer of batting in the middle. The ornaments and bows are felt with velcro on the back. I stitched the soft side of the velcro to the cotton side of the tree, and the felt side sticks to the ornaments just fine without it velcro, so it worked perfectly!

This was so much fun to make! I'd love to do a traditional green version as well!
Take care!

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Blair Capelet on: November 11, 2009 10:12:18 PM
I love this little capelet so much, and it was so easy! Everyone in the world should make one. I took a 14"x66" rectangle of lightweight faux fur, pleated it on the top and rounded the front corners, sewed ribbon around the edges, and added some hooks and eyes. So easy!
I have a fancier tutorial here if you'd like it: http://rufflesandstuff.blogspot.com/2009/11/tutorial-blair-waldorf-capelet.html

8  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Scarf and Hat From Sweater Vest on: October 27, 2009 10:48:31 PM
I got this used sweater vest at the $ store, and turned it into this scarf and hat set for my nephew!
First I cut the pieces out so that the bottom of the hat and scarf were the band of the vest, then I cut little ears and eyes from some felt I had. Sewed the two hat pieces together, and hand stitched the "face" on. Sewed the two scarf pieces into one long one, then folded in half(width) and sewed again. Turned the scarf right side out, and ta-da!

9  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Easy Skirt-to-Dress! on: October 23, 2009 12:37:47 PM
I made this dress from a skirt that my mom got at a thrift store for $.99! It looks like it took forever, but it was only about a 15-20 min project! I cut it down to size, and used the part that I cut off to make sleeves that I gathered in three places. Then I gathered the skirt to make pick-ups, and sewed on bows.
Here's the full tutorial with more photos if you'd like! http://rufflesandstuff.blogspot.com/2009/10/tutorial-cheaters-guide-to-fancy-dress.html

10  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Easy No-Sew Cape! on: October 19, 2009 09:43:31 PM
I made this cape from last Christmas' leftover fleece, and with no sewing! Yay! I basically just cut two rectangles, and made slits for the ribbon to go through, and two more slits for the armholes! So easy!!
Here is a more detailed tutorial if you need it!
