22  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / poppet vs. amigurumi swap? on: October 09, 2010 08:51:59 AM
I can crochet amigurumi's all day long but my sewing skills are very basic so I could never make a poppet but I adore them and would love one of my own. Anyone else interested in doing a poppet vs. amigurumi swap?
23  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Nintendo coffee table *extremely pic heavy* on: September 12, 2010 11:25:37 AM

This was a coffee table that my mother-in-law gave us and shortly after we got it a few years ago we thought it would be a great idea to tile it. We finally got around to it about 6 months ago and it is pretty much finished, just needs a few more clear coats over the tiles and the paint touched up in a few places.

In total there are 401 tiles, we used mostly Nintendo and Super Nintendo characters and some from other old school systems like Atari, Genesis, PC games, etc... Each image had to resized and the background color changed, we then printed them, cut them out and glued them to the tiles and then coated them with mod podge 3 times prior to grouting and placing them on the table.

29  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Firey for The Labyrinth swap on: February 09, 2010 11:37:10 AM
For The Labyrinth swap I was in my partner wanted a Firey so since my sewing skills are not that great I stuck to what I am good at - crochet! He is based off of the doll is Sarah's room. I wrote the pattern as I went, all I had to go by was one screenshot from the movie:

And without further ado..

I am super proud of how he turned out. He is so cuddly and I love him so much that I will definitely be making myself one!!

**Update** My Firey was featured on http://geekcrafts.com/ be sure to go to their site to check out more geeky crafts!

It was also featured in a weekly article on Fandomestic along with 12 other Labyrinth inspired crafts!
30  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / double knitting - what am I doing wrong? on: October 22, 2009 06:45:54 PM
I am started my second knitting project and decided on a double knit scarf that I found on ravelry that can also be found here http://www.craftychickonline.com/Knit%20Star%20Scarf.htm

I made sure during the cast on that my MC was on the right and my CC was on the left as she states. But for some reason whether I knit the first stitch and every other stitch after or purl the first stitch and every other stitch after it ends up with purls on both sides instead of the v's. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I tried searching you tube but don't seem to show the getting started process. Is there a step that needs to be done between casting on and knitting the first stitch?
