11  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / plants vs. zombies paintings on: December 21, 2011 11:41:14 PM

I finished painting this a few months ago but had a lot of packing/house buying drama and didn't get around to posting it here. This is going to be a 2 piece set when finished, I am working on the plants now Wink

I can't wait until they are both finished so I can hang them in my game room!

Edit: Finally finished the second painting, it only took me a year to get around to it!

12  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / melted crayon tree on: September 17, 2011 05:37:26 PM
I came up with this idea at work the other day and couldn't wait for the weekend to come to put it on canvas. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and I am having fun melting crayons!

One of my friends really liked this so I decided to give it to him as an upcoming wedding present and made another. I thing I like this one better, the darker brown crayons look better with the pink flowers.

13  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / crayon meadow on: September 03, 2011 02:49:26 AM
Inspired by Summer6061 and her Crayola wall art for her mom who is a teacher (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=388398.0) I looked up images of some other art pieces done using the same method and came across this piece (http://ny-image0.etsy.com/il_570xN.262380904.jpg) by JKCreate and decided to make my own. I already had 2 boxes of crayons laying around, a box of 120 and another box of 96 and pulled out all of the green and a few yellow but I was still 6 crayons short so I bought another box of 96.

here are my before photos:

I am pretty pleased with how it turned out and it only took a few hours. I have tons of extra crayons so maybe i'll experiment and make a few more!
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / pink furry monster bag on: August 26, 2011 06:36:36 PM
This bag is one of the reasons I wanted to learn how to knit 4 years ago and I finally got around to making it! She was inspired by other monster bags here on craftster and on ravelry and she was super easy to make! I used 2 strands of fun fur and 1 strand of red heart super saver and cast on 84 stitches on size 8 circular needles and knit until it looked big enough. I binded off until I was left with 42 stitches and switched to straight needles and worked the flap alternating rows between knit and purl so it would match the body of the bag and again worked until it looked long enough and binded off. Then I sewed the bottom together, added a liner snaps, a strap and decorations!

I love her very much, all that is left to do is to name her! I am taking suggestions lol.

15  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / in love silhouette painting on: March 14, 2011 05:26:39 PM
I have been minorly obsessed with a series of silhouette wallpapers and in need of some wallart so I decided to paint a few of my favorites.. I just finished the first one. There were a lot of things about the original photo that I didn't like and I changed with this. I used acrylic paint pens for the tree because I decided using a brush would drive me crazy! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out overall, c&c definitely welcome!

16  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / glitter art portraits on: January 02, 2011 08:19:58 PM
I made these for my husband for Christmas, they were super easy and I love how they turned out! I used 12 x 12 glitter cardstock and painted the images on.

17  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / poppet vs. amigurumi swap? on: October 09, 2010 08:51:59 AM
I can crochet amigurumi's all day long but my sewing skills are very basic so I could never make a poppet but I adore them and would love one of my own. Anyone else interested in doing a poppet vs. amigurumi swap?
18  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Nintendo coffee table *extremely pic heavy* on: September 12, 2010 11:25:37 AM

This was a coffee table that my mother-in-law gave us and shortly after we got it a few years ago we thought it would be a great idea to tile it. We finally got around to it about 6 months ago and it is pretty much finished, just needs a few more clear coats over the tiles and the paint touched up in a few places.

In total there are 401 tiles, we used mostly Nintendo and Super Nintendo characters and some from other old school systems like Atari, Genesis, PC games, etc... Each image had to resized and the background color changed, we then printed them, cut them out and glued them to the tiles and then coated them with mod podge 3 times prior to grouting and placing them on the table.
