11  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / kitty afghan on: November 07, 2012 08:53:02 PM
I found this cute pattern online (www.craftdesigns4you.com) a while ago and decided to make it for my Grandma for Christmas. I used Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn! Tweed colors to give it a homey country feel and used the shell stitch to add a ruffly border. Sorry for the bad pictures, it's hard to take pictures of blankets!

12  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / bird cage mixed media on: November 04, 2012 06:06:06 PM

I had this idea for quite a while after seeing this at a local Hobby Lobby:

I loved the metal bird cage and the shadow box effect. There was a lot and error in the construction of the frame. I made a smaller prototype to use for experimenting and found that two canvases, a foam board, hot glue and a staple gun were the way to go. The pages are from an old beat up copy of Alice in Wonderland that I purchased at a thrift store for another project a few years ago. The more time consuming challenge was locating a usable wire bird cage which I ended up finding by change at a craft store.

I am very pleased with the final product and can't wait for the varnish to dry so I can hang it on my wall!

13  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / owls made with fabric and buttons on canvas on: November 02, 2012 06:28:18 PM

Got the idea last night and worked on it all day. Finally made some use out of the fabric I have purchased over the years. I love how it turned out!

15  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Rainbow Brite melted crayon art on: February 11, 2012 12:28:28 AM
I did this for GrindHouseHussy19 in the most recent 80s cartoon swap. Her and I both love Rainbow Brite and she had a lot of melted crayon art on her pinterest.

16  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / plants vs. zombies paintings on: December 21, 2011 11:41:14 PM

I finished painting this a few months ago but had a lot of packing/house buying drama and didn't get around to posting it here. This is going to be a 2 piece set when finished, I am working on the plants now Wink

I can't wait until they are both finished so I can hang them in my game room!

Edit: Finally finished the second painting, it only took me a year to get around to it!

17  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / melted crayon tree on: September 17, 2011 05:37:26 PM
I came up with this idea at work the other day and couldn't wait for the weekend to come to put it on canvas. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and I am having fun melting crayons!

One of my friends really liked this so I decided to give it to him as an upcoming wedding present and made another. I thing I like this one better, the darker brown crayons look better with the pink flowers.

Inspired by Summer6061 and her Crayola wall art for her mom who is a teacher (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=388398.0) I looked up images of some other art pieces done using the same method and came across this piece (http://ny-image0.etsy.com/il_570xN.262380904.jpg) by JKCreate and decided to make my own. I already had 2 boxes of crayons laying around, a box of 120 and another box of 96 and pulled out all of the green and a few yellow but I was still 6 crayons short so I bought another box of 96.

here are my before photos:

I am pretty pleased with how it turned out and it only took a few hours. I have tons of extra crayons so maybe i'll experiment and make a few more!
19  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / pink furry monster bag on: August 26, 2011 06:36:36 PM
This bag is one of the reasons I wanted to learn how to knit 4 years ago and I finally got around to making it! She was inspired by other monster bags here on craftster and on ravelry and she was super easy to make! I used 2 strands of fun fur and 1 strand of red heart super saver and cast on 84 stitches on size 8 circular needles and knit until it looked big enough. I binded off until I was left with 42 stitches and switched to straight needles and worked the flap alternating rows between knit and purl so it would match the body of the bag and again worked until it looked long enough and binded off. Then I sewed the bottom together, added a liner snaps, a strap and decorations!

I love her very much, all that is left to do is to name her! I am taking suggestions lol.

20  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / in love silhouette painting on: March 14, 2011 05:26:39 PM
I have been minorly obsessed with a series of silhouette wallpapers and in need of some wallart so I decided to paint a few of my favorites.. I just finished the first one. There were a lot of things about the original photo that I didn't like and I changed with this. I used acrylic paint pens for the tree because I decided using a brush would drive me crazy! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out overall, c&c definitely welcome!
